photo of my finished drawing of Sue the T. rex on a table at the airport. They had surprisingly good chili cheese fries there, which as we all know are the ultimate in art fuel. I kinda fucked up the placement on the page, this was much harder to draw than expected. I kept getting sweaty too which I only realized the next day when I woke up with a fever was probably me actually being sick and not knowing it. I should go back and draw this again when I am not sick and do a better job!!!

I was drawing in the museum until they closed(thats why it looks empty above) so I had to finish it up at the airport. I've wanted to see Sue in person since I was a kid so this was a dream come true.

Although Lee et al. 2026 was great paper and I really enjoyed reading it, there are still lots of Jinju Formation plant fossils to study

It seems like Pseudofrenelopsis, after comparing with recently published paper.

2026 will be a year of the Jinju Formation.

Nowadays, the idea is mainstream, has been supported by lots of additional data, and is widely accepted. But papers like that linked to above still feel like a win given some of the responses we got at the time.

It's perhaps worth stressing that, when Darren and I started work on what became the "azhdarchid terrestrial stalking" paper - Witton and Naish 2008 - two decades ago, the idea that pterosaurs spent a lot of time on the ground, let alone foraged terrestrially, was very controversial.

New paper: possible track evidence of a small reptile or salamander being pursued by an azhdarchid-like pterosaur. Validation of the Witton and @tetzoo.bsky.social model of azhdarchid foraging? Maybe.

Always good to see another papers about fossil records of the Jinju Formation. Not only trackways, brief report of pterosaur swimming traces from the same formation is present, which was only mentioned in thesis. Stay tuned for more Jinju Formation papers, including my work...

It is the first time I have touched the 'sacred' physical copy of JVP 44(4) in the office! I don't own that one, but it doesn't matter right now. Even back of my business card is with the best pterosaur.

Would they even pay attention like this if new cranial material of ~2 meters long small ornithopod (previously described) has been discovered and reported? Perhaps not

It may different case from Haolog, I believe this happened because familiar image has changed after the publication of new paper.

I've never seen some people severely angry this level about new publication of any specific ornithopod before...

I understand you're not used to new reconstruction presented in the new paper, but this is not a something to be that upset about. Science is NOT ruining paleontology. This is how our knowledge are expanded by new discoveries.
