Canada's most syndicated newspaper, the National Post, published an overwhelmingly positive review of the infamously racist novel Camp of the Saints today. The book is a standard in white nationalist book lists and is nearly only sold by white supremacist publishers. nationalpost.com/opinion/jami...

Hard to convey how terrifying it is when a speeding driver close-passes you while you’re biking. If Central Park had a protected bike lane along its southern border, cyclists could ride protected and not be subject to dangerous passes or dooring.
waymo should expect more of this.
Robson Fletcher caught staples' signing into the wrong fake account
He deleted this one.
Today, my kid had a badminton tournament at the Edmonton Islamic academy. It was like entering a world of truth and recognition. Memorials for the children genocided in Gaza, including Hind. We have failed so hard.
You're going to get jaded in our ndp real fast, because they love carbon capture and hydrogen snakeoil salesmen.
(cbc calgary has also never met a grifter that they didn't like)
Something I learned in the 2nd yr of my ebike commute.
My most direct route is 11km one way. The "scenic" route is 13km. When I can (not icy) I -always- take the longer route.
I even go on 30km rides -just for fun-
I did a vid on one of those & I talk a lot about eBikes & why I got one. #yeg
Right. As I always say, these conflicts arise because bikers/pedestrians/rollers/scooters/whatever are fighting over slivers of space not taken by cars.
*different glacier...it's happening everywhere.
When people say universities are inherently liberal institutions, I laugh in UCalgary graduate
This piece is a must-read to understand the origins and foundation of the Canadian conservative political mindset.
Every so often there's a thing on here saying "If someone is being racist/sexist/etc call them out, and watch them fold."
And yes, we should do that.
But wow does that not work with drivers.
If you even try it, you're suddenly surrounded by an angry mob with sweet grannies threatening to kill you.
I don't know how it is in Lethbridge or Medicine Hat, but up here at 53⁰N the winter part of this debate seems so bizarre.
During the referendum I remember a bunch of californians yelling at everyone, but it was like "Allow me to introduce you to 7.5 total hours of daylight."
You have two friends. One says, "I hate how it's dark before I leave work." The other says, "I hate how the sun rises after I get to work."
One of these is an imaginary friend.
It is corrosive to society that breaking traffic safety rules is normalized
calgary is a hellmouth, and the CaLgAry schOOL Of pUbLIc pOLIcy is its festering core.

This is absolute corruption, in case anyone was wondering.
At no point should elected officials be involved designing their own electoral boundaries.
Especially in their own favour.
Win by doing a good job, not by stealing the voices of the electorate.
“The Elbows Up for Climate campaign launched today with an open letter signed by more than 100 mayors and councillors from coast to coast to coast…”
I applaud this, BUT EVERY ONE OF THOSE MAYORS AND COUNCILLORS better be fighting for CLIMATE ACTION in the land-use & transportation in THEIR cities.
I will never forget the experience of seeing LEAVING NEVERLAND at its Sundance premiere. For @avclub.com I wrote about a devastating, definitive documentary about surviving sexual abuse that cannot be erased.
My 70 something parents use their e-bikes to go on 40 km rides with their friends.
E-bikes are life-extenders, leisure-extenders, and enjoyment-extenders for so many people.
It is not cheating to get more fun out of your day and ensure you have the oomph to come home at the end.

Solar power's 2025 growth was the largest annual increase of any electricity source ever, outside of coal's post-Covid rebound Year-on-year change in electricity generation, 2005-2025 (TWh) Highlighted bars = top 5 years of growth (with ranking labelled above) Solar Wind Hydro 500 0 5th 2nd 2005 Nuclear 2025 2005 Coal 2025 2005 Gas 2025 500 0 4th 3rd 1st: The largest single-source change was a rebound from Covid-19 2005 2025 2005 2025 2005 2025 Source: Yearly electricity data, Ember Changes before 2005 were smaller than in this period due to the smaller size of the overall power system EMBER
Solar's growth from 2024 to 2025 was basically the highest growth of anything ever, with the exception of coal's post-covid rebound which I think you'll agree kinda doesn't really count
Media needs to stop with "critics say" and just quote the actual language of the bill.
HB 249 creates a new category of "seminudity" which can be used to arrest women who aren't nude, but are wearing clothing — leggings, t-shirts without bras — that religious groups feel is too provocative.
April 20th's High of 22.7°C was the 5th warmest on record, and our warmest day since 23.2°C on October 10th.
The Low of 2.9°C was a pretty unremarkable 43rd.

perfect movie, not in canada though.
I'm also curious how much it really benefits the businesses.
I think of Odd Company on 122nd.
In the winter the interior will be pretty full.
In the summer the patio will be full, but the interior will be pretty quiet.
I'm sure it gets them some extra customers, but it's not like 2x their sales.
...this really should be treated as a bonus FOR the city.
Because it incentivizes active streefronts on mainstreets, instead of more dentists and hair salons.
It shouldn't even be a question, except that admin suck, and council are scared of them.
