Lovely!
Chislehurst to Bexley, a chilly morning gives way to a warmer afternoon in South London.

It's a great reminder of the importance of protecting our green spaces, so we leave no trace when we're out enjoying them.
They'll be out on more sections of the #LondonLoop throughout the year. If there are sections of the Loop that you think have a litter problem, tell us in the comments.
#LondonLoop volunteers Alan and Neil were recently out on Section 9. Neil is an award-winning litter picker honoured with Environment Champion award. They reported remarkably little litter except for a buildup towards the end of the section along the A30 towards Hatton Cross. Thank you both!
Huge thanks to volunteers Keith and George who installed another post today off Bogey Lane on Section 3 of the #LondonLoop - as well as fitting discs to the newish support rail alongside the steps up to the field alongside the lane. The route just got a little bit easier for everyone to follow!

Up early today and off to do quite a long section of @ldnloop-capring.bsky.social - Moor Park to Borehamwood
Pleased to hear from a group who walked it on Friday that the riverside route of the #CapitalRing Section 15 is open again! Repairs to the King George V lock gates are finished & they were able to complete the #CapitalRing via the riverside route. Northern foot tunnel lift still out of order tho’.
Ramblers volunteers made more improvements to the #LondonLoop recently - 2 new posts added on Section 4 in the Addington Hills making it easier to navigate.
They were funded by Inner London Ramblers, South Bank Ramblers and the London LDWA group.
Thanks to all involved.
It's taken me far too long but I've finally got around to writing up my thoughts on Section 2 of the Loop: open.substack.com/pub/nikmorti.... The more I've thought about it, the more I enjoyed this section. Section 3 has a lot to live up to!
Pleased to share that our volunteers' persistence has resulted in Bexley Council installing these handrails on both sides of the flight of steps from Hall Place in Bexley up to the A2 on Section 1 of the #LondonLoop.
You can see what it looked like in 2024 in the 2nd photo. Thanks to all involved!
A woodland clearing in winter light, with gnarled, moss-covered trees arching overhead, their bare branches casting long dramatic shadows across a leaf-strewn ground. A wooden park bench sits quietly in the middle distance beneath the trees, bathed in low golden sunlight that highlights the green moss on the bark. The scene has a peaceful, contemplative atmosphere typical of a temperate woodland on a clear winter's day

More January sun near Cockfosters on the #LondonLoop.

in what feels like record time, here's my writeup on Section 4 of the @ldnloop-capring.bsky.social, a really enjoyable ramble through some stunning countryside and breathtaking views: open.substack.com/pub/nikmorti...
We love Shirley Windmill!
The video doesn’t do it justice but the view was incredible. Wembley Stadium, Canary Wharf, the Shard and so much more were on display. Gorgeous stuff, reminds me why I love this city so much.
So happy that I took advantage of the break in the weather to tick off Section 4 of the @ldnloop-capring.bsky.social, a delightfully muddy ramble from West Wickham Common to Hamsey Green. So much to love about the route but the view from Addington Hills were the standout, all of London was visible!
Great to hear London’s #CapitalRing get a mention on #BBCRadio4 #Ramblings with @sutchfun.bsky.social - excellent episode! @gojauntly.bsky.social www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...
Snowdrops in a graveyard
A tree with a commemorative plaque in front of it from when it was planted
Muddy footpath winding through woods
A stream flowing between banks with woodland on each side
Thursday trail run via Keston and out towards Addington #running #Londonloop #trailrunning #Kestonponds
The #GreenChainWalk is a very different kind of beast, but very lovely too!
Crystal Palace to Wimbledon via Streatham today, and that's the #CapitalRing finished, a year and three weeks after I first started the #LondonLoop. The latter definitely the better of the two. Not sure what's next, but it'd better involve a lot more pubs.
I was pleased to get this @gojauntly.bsky.social notification the other day when I hit the 250k mark in the Walk 2026k in 2026 Challenge #LondonLoop
Hah, knowing the people who developed it back in the day… i wonder if their favourite pubs have just shut in the last 25 years!?
I must get better at not leaving it so long between walking and writing about the @ldnloop-capring.bsky.social. Regardless, here are my thoughts on Section 3 of the London Loop, a 16km ramble from Petts Wood to West Wickham Common. open.substack.com/pub/nikmorti...
The walk was designed to link and connect parks and green spaces rather than take the shortest route - when you show it like that it does look a bit odd though! And of course nobody has ever walked down Leonard Road so we will never know…
As I stood amongst the trees, quiet as a mouse, the silence was occasionally broken by the trilling of what I took to be a blackbird.

A lovely wintry ramble around Section 3 of the @ldnloop-capring.bsky.social today and not nearly as muddy as I’d feared. The route is a mix of gorgeous villages I’ll never afford to live in and some stunning woodlands made this an afternoon well spent.
