@martycricket.bsky.social there definitely isn't a stump, it's more Tea Party, Cheers Bar and yesterday everything witches in Salem, where to say absolutely everything is witch themed is a huge understatement.

A few laps of Jamaica Pond in Boston, listening to @martycricket.bsky.social and Durham batting well. Over here for a holiday with my kids ahead of Boston Marathon a week on Monday. From snow & sub zero a couple of days ago, its due to be mid 20s in a day or 2 πŸ₯΅ #marathontraining #BostonMarathon

My Garmin is officially giving me Vampire Simulator instructions. πŸ§›β€β™‚οΈ 🀣

I ignored the memo on avoiding light earlier, but the real mystery is the "Be Active" prompt at 11 PM. Is it a gentle walk or am I running for my life? Garmin doesn't specify. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ’¨

The Trail Outlaws Kielder Dark Skies trail marathon 2026. With it's usual bonus mile. Perfect running weather, lovely star filled skies. Sub zero temperatures at the end. Treated it as a training run rather thana race, to dial in my nutrition and condition the legs on the downhills.

Race weekend incoming. Kielder Dark Skies Marathon (Saturday) & 10k (Sunday). Perfect training runs for Boston marathon πŸ€”πŸ˜‚

This will be my 5th marathon around Kielder Water.

I'll use the marathon as a training run, and make sure my nutrition & gut is dialled in and trained. So no flat out racing.

Spring is springing. The Tyne Valley and Devils Water looking great on yesterday's trail run. Amazing how quickly things have dried out, I was expecting lots of mud, I was disappointed 😞 πŸ˜‚

The Brass Monkey Half Marathon 2026 ready. I think it may be slightly flatter than last weeks Winter Wipeout "half marathon" & a bit shorter, & definitely no running in a river 🀣

Hopefully a good un, it looks like there will be rain, though not too heavy & not too cold

See you on the other side.

Nearly a week since Edinburgh Marathon, it's time for a round up and photo dump

A marathon PB by 1 minute 41 seconds. I was hoping to get 3:43:00. I just didn't get to that time the way I had planned. I had a pacing plan on my… #emf2025 #marthonrunnersofinstagram #runnersofinstagram #marathonrace

The @upthepoly Cookson 10K. The race with the epic classic album inspired t-shirt. This year, The Stone Roses. I really enjoyed this one, partly because I wasn't going flat out for my best effort. I was saving my legs for Sunday's… #cookson10k #northshieldspoly #monkseatonhighschool #monkseaton

Cutting it a bit fine, the number for Sunday's marathon arrived today. The tapering is on, and the carb loading will start to build. The weather forecast looks OK, maybe some light rain showers which I'm happy with. Bring it on. #EdinburghMarathon #ukrunchat #runningchannel

It was great to meet and hear @pauls-h.bsky.social this morning at the Hexham Book Festival. Such a down to earth and relatable man, I'm really looking forward to reading the book.

I get positively ignored in the gym, and I'm someone who definitely needs some guidance on form when I attempt free weights.
What's their mindset I wonder, is it "women clearly have no idea so I will tell them", or is it, "I'm a man, I'm superior, so will help" or both. Is it getting worse, too?

Boston (UK) marathon, it was flat. Flatter than the flattest pancake, it made the rest of the Fens look like the Alps. The aim was to just get around injury free, after hamstring strain 6 weeks ago. Fully achieved. I ran 32k, jeffed 5k & pushed for the last 5k. Really surprised to get under 4 hours

If they can sneak one of these 2 out quickly, then they should be able to finish them in the time left 🀞

Definitely flat and there was a moderate wind. I strained my hamstring about 7 weeks ago, so I had given up chasing for a time, I just hoped I would strain it again. All went well, got around in 3:55, and the legs were all OK. I'll hopefully get some speed and stamina back for Edinburgh in May.

A lovely parkrun at Boston parkrun with a great set of marshals, especially the ones encouraging everyone up the "hill", which is a small incline for anyone not native to the Fens 🀣 then exploring Boston, mainly the Stump ahead of the marathon tomorrow.

It's now been made public, that @pauls-h.bsky.social is talking at #Hexham Book Festival. Will there be a visit to Tyne Green parkrun or Junior parkrun that weekend, too? I was potentially running a race that day as part of marathon training, I may re think my plans. #parkrun

A very emotional Prudhoe R'side parkrun as we celebrated the life of Richard Weymes. One of life's really great guys. Who was sadly lost to us this week, totally devastating for all. He was incredibly supportive of all in all aspects of life, not just running

#parkrun volunteering with my favourite daughter, at #TyneGreen. She missed last week due to breaking her foot, but back on it!

That's completed her 5 hours volunteering she needed for her Uni sports science course. She's enjoyed it but I fear she may return to Saturday morning hibernation 🀣πŸ˜₯

I remember a program on TV, looking at the sports drinks/water industry, maybe 10 or 15 years ago, where a university professor in sports nutrition said no one ever dies of dehydration running a marathon, but every year 3 or 4 die from over hydration during a marathon.
