It started small. Just a #tired dispute between pedants. A minor academic squabble.
It grew from there.
In the end, the whole world was burning, and nothing was settled.
Survivors of the Oxford Comma Wars took to the stars, spreading the #Word.

When we sisters gather,
a feast of emotion is served.
Each #word brought to the table
sits indigestible.
Spoiled memories
roil and rise.
We are gut punched
and heart sick,
old and orphaned.
No one reminds us
to stop fighting,
that we are sisters.
We waited patiently. Why #hurry? We had forever, after all.
But life is short. Love, too.
She was long gone when I got home. Only the ring remained.

I didn't think of you today
as I clawed my way
to happiness' brink
I didn't think of you today
as I strove
to switch my mood
from grey to pink
nor last night, as I tried
to paint more stars
on night's dark ink
& into my thoughts
