Ah yes. The "modern" ambition of doing a thing, and then not stopping, but have the audacity to do another thing.

Imagine a world where Lucas Pope never made Obra Dinn. Carpenter never made The Thing. Malala or Greta took the book deal and bailed.

Don't confuse passion with ambition.

Do the people who think that consciousness can emerge from sufficiently complex #llm or #lrm models, likewise believe that from image generators, may emerge parallel universes?

Did you know that, as a phone maker, to be part of the #OHA and be allowed to use #google android, you are _forbidden_ to launch a phone with an alternative OS?

Isn't that nice. And open.

Filthy.

Another nail in the coffin for alternative Android OS's. The "open" "handheld" "alliance" (airquotes for emphasis, every word there is a lie), just playing into the google monopoly.

Government recently launched a "privacy-first" #mygov app that lets you authenticate on their websites. Very cool.

It uses strict device integrity checks. Which means, on android, you have to have an official #google #android play services enabled device.

Ah yes. Google. Privacy first. Hilarious.

With all this #ai "augmentation". The internet has gotten measurably slower. Every website has you just staring at "thinking" loaders for seconds.

"Let me cut down a tree and grab some info you will ignore".

As a #webdev by trade, this is just insane. Nothing is snappy anymore.

Cloudflare has a pretty good track record, but there's an argument to be made that putting the entire internet behind a gatekeeper, is also not such a great idea. Not sure if that's Itch's rationale. But it would be mine

#gnome is fine, I guess. But it wasn't for me. It took the #steamdeck and #bazzite to realize that KDE is much more my jam. And now I feel like I will never feel tempted to go back to windows or mac.

Eventually you do, obviously, need to work with the CLI. But making sure the initial experience isn't frustrating, has much more to do with what Desktop Environment you are on, than what distro.

7 months ago 0 0 1 0

When someone asks you what #Linux distro is best, don't suggest a distro. Suggest a DE.

I never got used to Linux because I was always on #gnome. And it never worked out.

Then I tried #kde and that was the key. apt or dnf or pacman or whatever doesn't matter. That's not what you interact with.

Why this matters: I usually juggle about 4 different work profiles. All needing isolation. Passwords, history, extensions... FF containers were not what I wanted and their profiles seemed an abandoned feature

Working for different clients requires isolation. Chrome was the only solution.

UNTIL NOW

Entries in the alien franchise should stop trying to copy the first movie's opening scene. It always throws me off.

If you then bounce between sort-of trashy splatter monster-movie vibe, and attempts at profound sounding philosophy, you just lose me completely.

So no. Alien Earth is not my jam.

Sign the petition if you haven't already. If you are not eligible, tell your friends and/or fanbases about it. Games should be eternal. Let's take the steps to make them so.

What is the best way to order books online that isn't Amazon?

I need to order about 20 of them. I used to use thebookdepository. Good prices and shipped to Belgium, but yeah.

After a bit of a hiatus because of #life, currently back to being productive. Built a big piece of the back-end last week, and on the more visual side, added buttons. finally! My first non- @kenney.bsky.social visuals. very proud.

Levels in my game are short, so i need a lot of them. Generating them is easy.

Solving each of them in order to set a target score, so the game isn't done in 13 minutes.. That's something else. I know what to do these holidays.

I wanted players to find solutions for the 'puzzles' instead of me.

But it now feels like an overreach.

So I will spend the coming weeks generating a couple thousand more, and just grind the solutions. Like I did with the first 2k :)

Hoping to reach 5k levels. I think the original had 10k

My goal was creating and shipping a simple game this year.

I wanted to have online functionality. But i am realizing now that the complexity of adding that, is delaying me to actually ship it.

So to get back on track, I am ditching it. Hoping to be ready by February.

Day 12 of #learning to draw with #krita.
Hands and faces are difficult!

Could not get the face correct without over-detailing. So now the styles clash a bit. Proportions feel off, and her expression is not very "sexy" (as in the reference). Still happy! (Don't tell Siouxsie)

Drawing of a small townscape by the water.

Day 11 and 12 of learning how to #draw with #krita. Turns out drawing perspective properly is hard! Did a quick study where I tried to remember what I learned about perspective lines, aaaages ago.

Krita has really grown on me already. It will do for my current skills :)
