Please tell me your candidate papers - practice changing paradigm shifting or dogma challenging!

Interesting! SubQ meropenem.
“Subcutaneous meropenem appears to be well tolerated and has a favourable pharmacokinetic profile. Either 1.5 g twice daily or 3 g as a 24 h subcutaneous infusion could be considered for future evaluation.”

Can we treat patients with low-risk BSI discharged from the ED with a fully-oral course of antibiotics?

Good timing, I'm creating ID trivia questions currently
In the Middle East and Africa drinking camel urine and/or milk is not rare. In a study of 66 pts w cancer who drank a mixture of camel urine and milk, 3 developed infections.
Let me know if you want to guess or just want the answer :)
To get hopefully some #peniicillinallergy #drugallergy folk over to 🦋 from X I am going to list my top 5 #antibioticallergy papers of all time - starting tomorrow! Stay tuned 👀
To say I am on the edge of my seat is a massive understatement. What time is it in Australia? Is it tomorrow yet?
Oh! Interesting! Love this.
Love the oral choice! I struggle using oral 2nd/3rd gen cephs because folks are used to tiny doses (250-500mg BID) and there limited if any) any PK/PD studies with bigger doses to make up for the 50% bioavailability.
We are making big strides w high dose 1st gens (1g Q8-12) w cefadrox and cefalex.
Very happy to report that @sidpharm.bsky.social and @mad-id.bsky.social is here. Waiting on SHEA...
TEMs are definitely in the mix in CO. ESBLs are still more common.
We tend/try to use cefepime on TEM phenotypes to save the carbs.
I'm advertising a PhD studentship (open to international students) working on long read pangenome / assembly algorithms in bacteria. Would suit someone with maths/compsci/coding background. Aptitude + interest more important than experience.
