After my grandmother was born, my great grandmother lost the next six children in infancy. When the next one came along she apparently couldn’t bear to bond with him and my grandmother brought up her little brother. So tragic.

I would say the original Morton series is Miss Marple level. The Venator series are a step up. I haven’t read the other series.

They’re so good. Read them in order as there is a storyline running through them as well as the storyline in each book.

Well, I'm all signed up for APG and Strathclyde #genealogy conference in Glasgow in June. Who else is going?

Now all I need is for Trump to stop buggering up the flights...

Just learned that 2 more of the soldiers I've researched for the Army have been identified. Will post about each individually, but one was a case I researched in 2001! And the other? Well, his closest living relative at the time (sadly now deceased) was a 1C1R. Never give up hope, y'all! #genealogy

Years ago when I first tested Ancestry told me I had coppery colour eyes - not a colour I’ve ever seen on anybody in my life. Actually they’re a sort of greeny/bluey/grey colour.

The Sir Tom Farmer Foundation make the Leith Custom House project possible Plans to open the A listed Leith Custom House as a museum will progress following a "substantial donation" from the Sir Tom Farmer Foundation. Sir Tom and Lady Anne Farmer made a massive contribution to Edinburgh with their philanthropy, both public and private, during their lifetimes. Now, after their deaths, it will be possible for Scottish Historic Buildings Trust (SHBT) to develop the long held plans for the Georgian building.

Took a peek at #RootsTech posts over on X, just to see if there were more posts there than BlueSky.
Nope! I’d say BlueSky had way more content. This despite the fact there is no RootsTech account here. FamilySearch should seriously consider this! #genealogy

Yes, I've downloaded all the handouts and slides from the In person talks in case they disappear after the event.

Day 1 #NotAtRootsTech. Not seen many talks live because of timezone but really enjoyed Diane Elder’s talk on negative evidence.

Great work! I had a DNA case that ended up in Ireland and it was so tough. Figured out where they came from in Galway but just could not sort out all the John KELLYs, Michael McDONOUGHs and Patrick JOYCEs. Had to give up in the end. Fortunately client got a really high match and made contact.

Enjoying #FewForgettenWomen Friday. I’ve started getting to know my person today although had to stop researching to run some errands, because tomorrow will be 41 degrees and very windy and I’m not going out in THAT!
