Our #UExM efforts with @gautamdey.bsky.social & @moorefound.bsky.social featured in @nature.com this month.

Beyond the #science, every image is a thing of beauty.

I think a world-tour exhibition has to happen at one point.

It happens. I'd say that is a grant that needs work. From what I hear re-submission of grants rates C is rarely successful, but people do get a B, take the feedback, make the grant better and get it.

Original image from 2011 of what I just had seen under the microscope when I ran into @oliverrocks.bsky.social’s office to show him. Turned out he’d observed this too, had no idea what it was either, but was just as stunned and curious as I was.

This is how it all started...

Transport of sphingolipids by yeast Npc2 supports phase separation of the vacuole membrane The yeast vacuole membrane forms ordered microdomains that facilitate microlipophagy under nutrient limitation. We previously found that this process …

New paper where we report that Npc2 - a shuttle-like lipid transfer protein - in yeast directly transports sphingolipids to the = vacuole membrane during formation of microautophagy-linked ordered domains #lipidtime

There are quite a few studies that did try to estimate crosslinking probabilities & it's difficult - what allowed us to put hard numbers on it are (a) looking at a lipid in a defined binding pocket of a protein and (b) working with Carla... one of the best people using native MS.

Exploiting internal symmetry can be a powerful approach to analyse convergence in MD simulations.

If two conformational states are symmetry related, their kinetic and thermodynamic properties should be the same. If one doesn't enforce this during analysis this provides a useful test. 1/n
