Cornifrons ulceratalis is still an incredibly rare migrant/vagrant in Andalucia! I have seen 140 before this year in 14 years of trapping, but 128 were all last year in an exceptional year for the species. So, the remaining 12 were seen over 13 years! This year has been a good year for the species with 12 already seen, but 7 of these were all on the 9th of April. |Here is the first photo of a species with varied markings. - moth-trapping on the 9th of April 2026 at CIMA, Tarifa, Cadiz Province, Andalucia, Spain.

Thanks for letting us know! I’m sure the likes of Musk would love Bluesky to fail!!

5 days ago 0 0 0 0

Wow ! - well done & you must have some expert help there - even getting DNA done! I was getting DNA done here in Spain, but funding has dried up! Let me know if you hear of any help for DNA?

6 days ago 1 0 0 0

good luck to everyone getting this problem - hope it is a glitch and will be fixed soon? And not caused by others who would like bluesky to fail!

It has only started today for me and I dont know how to fix it - never had problems before since I first arrived on bluesky?

I am getting messages saying “Error Forbidden please try again” I can usually get round it - but why is thus happening and how do I stop it!?

6 days ago 0 0 2 0

Is anyone else getting a forbidden message in red/pink coming up? I try to post things or look at things and this comes up - I then try again and usually can get past it but what does forbidden mean on bluesky?

So, I told you how many Small Mottled Willows - Spodoptera exigua that I saw, but what does this look like? Well this is most of the catch from one trap and perhaps 90% are all this species! - moth-trapping at Punta Paloma, near Tarifa, Cadiz Province, Andalucia, Spain on the 8th of April 2026.

This has to be a favourite migrant moth of mine with its huge 'nose' - Etiella zinckenella. Yes, that is right - I saw 756 Small Mottled Willows - Spodoptera exigua in one night in my moth traps! I think this photo shows 10 in one small 'egg space' in one side of one egg tray - and then you multiply that by 6 egg trays in each trap, plus those on the sides of the trap and nearby for 6 moth traps! - moth-trapping at Punta Paloma, near Tarifa, Cadiz Province, Andalucia, Spain on the 8th of April 2026.

And on a world or European stage then this moth is much more important as a species than my last photo - this is Eupithecia iberica, which is resident at this site in reasonable numbers (I trapped 11 this night and it is only known from Iberia). At one of its few known sites in the world - moth-trapping at Punta Paloma, near Tarifa, Cadiz Province, Andalucia, Spain on the 8th of April 2026. (See Leveque et al, 2026 for details)

This is probably my most successful trap at CIMA. Even though it is only a 15 watt actinic bulb - it consistantly outperforms my other traps including a couple of 125 watt MV traps!
