Time to stop the uglyness and say good night with some art.
This is my painting from a photo I took. I love the redwoods.

Eastern Kingbird resting on a branch with green leaves. The background is soft with pinks, yellows and green poking though to imitate sunlight through leaves. Eastern Kingbirds are grey black on the upperparts with light underparts. They have a long black tail with a white end and long, pointed wings. They have a red patch on their crown, seldom seen unless provoked to defend themselves, a mate or territory. Digital Art, hand painted in Photoshop CS3 on a Wacom 21UX - artist Cass Womack 2026
Eastern Kingbird - final render
I have been trying to add more texture to my work. I genuinely like how it's going, it has that feeling of chalking/color pencil slow build up I miss from traditional art.

Hey folks! Need a map? I'm currently open for commissions - both traditional and digital cartography! Reposts and sharing is heavily encouraged and thanked for ❤️
I have a lot of frosting bags and tools, and that’s very similar. I’m prepared to do it that way if the caulking gun tiny-bead adaptor doesn’t work.
I fear I’ll just suck at consistently squeazing the bag to get an even line. We’ll see. It’ll take time to develop that steadiness.
Drawing of two Northern Flickers, one red-shafted and one yellow-shafted, perched on a twisting branch of chokecherry leaves and berries. Floating white flowers and starbursts are around them, as well as a ribbon that intertwines with them and the branch, and changes from red to yellow.

Image depicts 4 drawing steps of a Eastern Kingbird sketch study from a previous post. The first step is a rough sketch showing the form, second is a detailed sketch, third is a color wash much like using water color over pen and ink, forth is a final render attempt. Very rare do I get to take my sketched to final because of time and life. But this one I really liked the pose and mood of so I took this time to do a proper treatment. Progress was captured live on CassWArt Twitch channel, from sketch study to final piece. No AI used ever in the creation of any of my artwork. Need to make that very, VERY clear.

Very rare these days that I get the time to take an image to a final render. So I wanted to show a little side by side of this journey.

Oop, nope—Sci-Art's there. Just takes forever to load. Huh.
I’m only getting some of it. A huge number of my feeds are down for me—like basic Popular with Friends and Mutuals. Sci-Art is down for me, too.
Wow, half my feeds aren’t working today. That’s… sadly not surprising any more. <sigh>
Today I got all the supplies I needed for a second attempt at making my own texture paste, then store it and clean my tools.
I’m so excited I wrote a blog post about it!

Collage, mostly black and white with lots of circles and blocks of text. A human figure is to the bottom left.
I decided to play around with the technique where you take a piece of tape and stick it into a piece of magazine and then the ink sticks to the tape and you put the tape into water and then peel the paper off, and then are left with transparent collage pieces on the tape.
I think it worked!
A digital ink drawing of a bowl of blueberries. The bowl is speckled ceramic, with drainage holes and two handles. It rests on a wood board.behind it are fresh herbs in a pile. It all looks fresh from the garden.

Sat portfolio day out, since I’m sorta off the market ATM. Technically quite a bit of my work’s for sale on InPRNT, Redbubble, and t-shirts available through Bonfire, but I haven’t added new work in a while. :)
I appreciate new followers the comments on my Reshare Your Art posts this month!

This was my first bird of 2026. I saw it in the yard searching for snacks. I decided to take this one to a full render, which I'm almost finished with.

A watercolor painting of a galleon on a smooth ocean. The sky is vivid shades of orange to pink and the water is dark with a streak of color under the sun from reflection of the sky. The galleon is facing us and its sails are stowed.

My Backyard Birds, which exist on 6x6” watercolor paper, keep increasing in size as I draw new ones. I think I’m going to start doing the initial sketch on the iPad in order to try and keep some uniformity… 😅
