Fantastic first day out #birding in a while. Loads of Pied Flycatchers at Ty Hyll. Then Redstart, Wheatear, Dipper, Swallows, loads of Mipits, and after a very long wait a Ring Ouzel along Nant Ffrancon. #birdingwales #spring

The youngest #kakapo alive: Awarua-A3, 17 days old today. Despite appearances, she’s doing well. She won’t be leaving the nest until mid-June. It’s a long breeding season! #kakapo2026 #conservation #birds.

We have teamed up with the Lek It Be campaign to encourage us all to leave Capercaillie in peace (including so-called 'rogue' birds) during this breeding season.

We're grateful to Brian Cox for lending his voice to this important campaign, which exposes the systematic killing of Gannet chicks in northern Scotland.

Tbh, it’s a massively cropped image. As most of them are. Small birds in a big environment. 😁

Bonelli’s Eagle
First full day in #morocco. Bonelli’s Eagle against a backdrop of the High Atlas Mountains covered in snow. And a very convenient Levaillant's Woodpecker. #birdingMorocco

Two Brimstone butterflies and a peacock today at lunchtime. Singing Blackcaps and Chiffchaffs too. Spring.
I cannot remember why, but when I published my original video from our trip to #Namibia back in 2018, I only did it in HD, I have just reworked it to 4k (it was shot in 4k afterall) - without music this time, just the sounds of the African bush. #Africa #safari

😂
Mesmerising. Watched it twice.
😆
Over here in the UK they are a little out of their normal range and therefore quite a novelty :)
A little bit of extreme distance video of the Bufflehead at Llyn Coron on #Anglesey from this weekend. Not sure what caused it to jump, someone suggested a fish nibbled its toes. #birdingWales
Possible Ctenophora flaveolata cranefly. Taken in Trefriw, North Wales.
Just uploaded a record to Cofnod from May 2013!
I've been sorting through old photos and came across a cranefly image that I had not identified - ran it through Google's image search and it came up with Ctenophora flaveolata, which could be notable. Waiting for confirmation. 🤞
We assisted Cornwall Wildlife Trust with Cornwall’s first licensed wild beaver release yesterday! Four pairs have been released after three years of planning and consultation. The beavers will help to restore waterways, improve biodiversity, and increase climate resilience. [1/3]

Beddmanarch Bay on #anglesey today. Weather was awful, but managed to get GND, Slavonian Grebe, Pale Bellied Brent (with on Dark Bellied amongst them) Grey Plover and a very showy Kingfisher. And a great coffee to warm up in the ‘new’ cafe. #birdingWales
Just missed out on hitting 100 bird species in January at 98 species. Tbh, I wasn’t trying very hard. A few auks and gannets , plus quite a few grey seals, and nice to add porpoise to the mammal list today on a trip around the #GreatOrme. #birdingWales
Sorry, we went birding instead. Ours is easy anyway, mostly just sparrows. 😁
