They really are! I’ve also found they sprout and do well in pretty much every part of our yard!

I think until the pods are dried? Last year, I just kept checking them each day. But it’s easy to miss them because they launch the seeds very effectively when they’re ready!

Looks like next spring will be another Lupinepalooza. SO many seed pods! πŸ˜πŸ’šπŸŒ±πŸ’œ #Californianativeplants #nativeplants #grownatives

Six on Saturday Hello, friends! It’s a chilly morning here in Northern California. I’ve got a warm cat on my lap, another one curled up next to me, and hot coffee in my favorite mug. Time for a (mostly…

Find out why I ran outside to scold a sparrow, which plant came back from the dead, where I found a love note, and more in this week’s #sixonsaturday post on my #CaliforniaNativePlant blog. πŸ˜ŠπŸ’šπŸŒ±πŸŒ³ #nativeplants #grownatives

Not much other than sow native wildflower seeds! I did buy a couple of monkeyflower plants, but the rest are from seeds. Though I was obsessively weeding as the seedlings were growing. 😊 Just wanted to give them the best chance possible for survival.

I can’t stop marveling over the miracle of this wee meadow in the yard. Two years ago, nothing grew in this spot! I love staring at it and watching the pollinators come and go. πŸ’šπŸŒ±πŸ #californianativeplants #nativeplants #grownatives

A single Tidy Tips flower, which has many narrow petals that are mostly bright yellow, except for white at the end of each petal. The plant has a thin stem and leaves. The dirt is visible, as are a few other small yellow flowers preparing to bloom.

A little rumpled, but look who popped open to say hello! 😊 Good morning, Tidy Tips! πŸ’šπŸŒ±πŸ’› #californianativeplants #grownatives #nativeplants

First Purple Innocence flower! Doesn’t it seem like there’s always one plant willing to be brave and bloom first, even when all the others are still days away? πŸ’œπŸ’šπŸŒ±πŸ’šπŸ’œ #californianativeplants #nativeplants #springflowers #plantnatives

It’s often so windy here that I can’t get a photo that isn’t blurry, so I’ll take a quick video instead. I like how video captures the plants’ movement. 😊
