Your penstemon are huge! Everything looks beautiful. πππ
They really are! Iβve also found they sprout and do well in pretty much every part of our yard!
A tall stem of coral-colored flowers with white stamens. In the background are garden beds edged with red bricks.
Several stems of bright pink/purple flowers with white stamens. In the background are a brick column, a black iron gate, a neighboring house, and leaves and woodchips in a garden bed.
Itβs Elegant Clarkiaβs time to shine! Check out these beauties and find out who else is blooming in my #californianativeplants project β all in my new blog post. π₯° ππ±π

I think until the pods are dried? Last year, I just kept checking them each day. But itβs easy to miss them because they launch the seeds very effectively when theyβre ready!
Photo of a large stalk covered in green seed pods. There are two adjacent stalks that have purple columns of flowers, and there is a mass of finger-like green leaves.
Looks like next spring will be another Lupinepalooza. SO many seed pods! πππ±π #Californianativeplants #nativeplants #grownatives
That blue is amazing!
Find out why I ran outside to scold a sparrow, which plant came back from the dead, where I found a love note, and more in this weekβs #sixonsaturday post on my #CaliforniaNativePlant blog. πππ±π³ #nativeplants #grownatives

Thank you!!! π₯°
Photo of one small, deep red flower blooming, surrounded by narrow green leaves, reddish stems, an unopened flower bud, and yellow and white flowers in the background.
Seeing everyoneβs photos and posts about #CaliforniaNativePlants makes me so happy! Thank you all for sharing! π₯°ππ± Hereβs my newest bloom today - Red Monkeyflower.
Who wouldnβt want to??? π₯°
Not much other than sow native wildflower seeds! I did buy a couple of monkeyflower plants, but the rest are from seeds. Though I was obsessively weeding as the seedlings were growing. π Just wanted to give them the best chance possible for survival.
Photo of a small patch of yellow, yellow and white, orange, and purple wildflowers.
A small patch of sunny yellow flowers.
I canβt stop marveling over the miracle of this wee meadow in the yard. Two years ago, nothing grew in this spot! I love staring at it and watching the pollinators come and go. ππ±π #californianativeplants #nativeplants #grownatives
A single Tidy Tips flower, which has many narrow petals that are mostly bright yellow, except for white at the end of each petal. The plant has a thin stem and leaves. The dirt is visible, as are a few other small yellow flowers preparing to bloom.
A little rumpled, but look who popped open to say hello! π Good morning, Tidy Tips! ππ±π #californianativeplants #grownatives #nativeplants

I was surprised to see the previous name on Calscape. βΉοΈ
Purple Innocence (Collinsia heterophylla) flower. Also called βPurple Chinese Houses.β Macro photo of a half-bloomed flower with white petals on the top part of each bloom and purple petals on the bottom. The leaves are light green, long and pointed.
First Purple Innocence flower! Doesnβt it seem like thereβs always one plant willing to be brave and bloom first, even when all the others are still days away? πππ±ππ #californianativeplants #nativeplants #springflowers #plantnatives
This is what I aspire to! π
Itβs often so windy here that I canβt get a photo that isnβt blurry, so Iβll take a quick video instead. I like how video captures the plantsβ movement. π
βTis a bit windy today, but a few more blooms came out to say hello! First up: Monkeyflower ππ±π#californianativeplants #gardening #nativeplants
Wow β the aster is really surprising this time of year! All are beautiful!
They look great! πππ
