Alpine Sage has just started to bloom in my garden right about the time the Pozo Blue is starting to fade.
Celestial Blue Sage is probably my favorite of all the sages because the colors are so rich.
Pozo Blue has been flowering for months now and smells amazing. It grew 5'x7' in 1 year from 4" pot.
Salvia pachyphylla is in it's second year in my garden and still hanging in. I heard that it's hard to grow in the bay area.
A few of the flowers from my #CaliforniaNativePlant garden that are blooming this week. These are the parents of the 'Celestial Blue' Hybrid according to Las Pilitas.

Lupines in purple, a complicated class, nitrogen fixing pioneer plants, grazing food stock for animals, but others quite toxic due to alkaloids (especially to sheep). In Italy (and the eastern Mediterranean and Mideast) lupini are prized as a pickled snack but are cooked in other ways and ground into flours too. And of course gardeners adore them whether natives or imports, for their flowers, for the butterflies and bees, and for what they bring to the soil, naturally.

Phacelia tanacetifolia, 🌱🌿a #californianativeplant in the borage family. Native to the southern and more arid parts of California. She was new to me courtesy of the garden @curiouselder.bsky.social. Now seeing her everywhere. Such a pretty and complex plant with fern like leaves and a taller stemming structure and then these delicate clusters that sprout from “teeth”.

Lewisia cotyledon, cliffmaids, a Northern California flower that extends into southern Oregon, favoring rocky lower mountain habitat. Half are evergreen and with a thick taproot (that was harvested and eaten by Native Americans) from which the fleshy rosette leaves emerge and then flowers from spring into summer, in shades from pale pink to tropical sunset. The other half with the same habit but deciduous. A Royal Horticultural Society AGM winner, worth a try if you have a rock garden in zone 6 of above, and happy in a pot but give her roots room. Named for Merriweather Lewis (of Lewis and Clark).
