🎉 And to finish a great year… our latest paper is out!
We show that α-tubulin K40 acetylation is not essential for Toxoplasma gondii or Plasmodium berghei, highlighting the plasticity of parasite microtubule regulation.

Excited to release the Herculean efforts of @scottchisholm.bsky.social &Co. defining the subcellular #hyperLOPIT spatial proteome of #Plasmodium schizonts. Proteomes defining 24 subcellular niches, including exported compartments in the blood cell, are identified.

This work was carried out in collaboration with Dr. Simone Mattei (EMBL. Heidelberg) and Oliwia Koczy, who developed the cryo-CLEM approach used in this study. @simonemattei.bsky.social
We identified two key factors for conoid formation: CGP stabilises preconoidal rings, while ASAF1 positions the conoid complex and acts as a scaffold, also supporting SPMT assembly. Both are essential for parasite division and invasion.
Our new paper is out in Nature Communications! 🎉
We explore how Toxoplasma gondii organizes parasite development, combining cell biology and expansion microscopy to reveal new structural insights.

New on bioRxiv!
Our manuscript shows how the methyltransferase PCKMT primes the conoid by retaining Formin1 for motility initiation in Toxoplasma gondii, working with AKMT to activate the parasite’s motility machinery.

Excited to share our new paper!
Tepsin and AP4 mediate transport from the trans-Golgi to the plant-like vacuole in Toxoplasma gondii.
A great collaboration between the Meissner, Jiménez-Ruiz, and Dacks labs 🙌
