While I don't necessarily feel like the person to say this, i want to massively congratulate #Hungary for the result this evening
The freedom from Orban & the far right richly deserved
EgΓ©szsΓ©gΓ©re ! ππΊ
while i'm not sure, based on what i've seen elsewhere my guess would be that these were segmented
...but still undoubtedly very impressive uniformity such that the seams are impercetable

This is a plan of the site
#AncientSiteSunday
π§΅/5
Other than much older cult activity on the site, we know this temple was built on the burnt remains of a previous archaic temple as chunks of this older structure were built into a pediment for the new temple
#AncientSiteSunday
π§΅/4
The current temple has been dated to between 510-470 BC, there's an absence of written records about it, but it shares stylisitc hallmarks with other similar sites such as the Athenian treasury at Delphi (pictured right)

π§΅/3
While its needed some help & restoration over the years, it is striking for the condition in which much of it has survived
& it really is a stunning location, overlooking the Saronic Gulf with Salamis & Sounion visible to the North
#AncientSiteSunday
π§΅/2
While the island is not exactly huge - it has an incredible Doric temple in its North eastern corner, the temple of Aphaia
