Between the general violence against women across the globe, the continued violence against Black trans women, the recent murder of Dr. Fairfax (& other Black women at the hands of men), and the exposé on the 🍇 academy that has 62 millions+ visits, it all feels like a lot. And I’m enraged.

I hope that man’s coffee is cold and nasty when he drinks it tomorrow!
Idk how it’s going to work out but BK, NY will be home by 2028 ✨
Dr. Okorafor, I just finished reading Akata Witch. What a story! I cannot wait to read more of your books! Thank you for your writing and offerings 💛
Took at least a year, right? If so, that feels so long
Every day I am reminded how difficult it is to live in a world with cis-het men.
I am sending my condolences to the relatives hurt by this tragic violence and the teenagers who are now left to live in a world w/o their parents.

As someone who avoids malls because they do overwhelm me, learning about the ways malls are intentionally designed is compelling. Another example of how design influences and motivates behavior.

Mahershala Ali, Giancarlo Esposito, Tramell Tillman, and John Cho are set to star in Bassam Tariq’s ‘Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother.’
The film follows a hitman struggling to balance his job, with his faith, & fatherhood.
Three hittas 🔥🔥
Devastated to hear the entire Marvel Studios’s Visual Development team has been let go. This was my old home but more importantly, the home of so many incredible artists and peers.
Absolutely heartbreaking 😔
Sending all my impacted peers my love and support. Please reach out if you need anything!
😮😮😮 speechless
Military conflict in the Strait of Hormuz continues harming marine life despite a ceasefire: noise, explosions, mines, and pollution disrupt feeding, communication, and habitats, with long-lasting ecosystem damage in the region’s slow-recovering waters
I watched this on a plane. A good movie!
Hey, remember when your TV didn't require software updates, and just... worked?

A black-and-white studio portrait of Josephine Baker (1906–1975), the legendary American-born French dancer, singer, actress, and civil rights activist who became one of the most celebrated performers in Europe during the Jazz Age. In this iconic, high-contrast photograph, she is captured in a dynamic, theatrical pose radiating exuberance and glamour: reclining slightly against a dark curved backdrop, she leans back with one arm gracefully raised and bent behind her head, fingers lightly touching her hair, while her body twists toward the camera with joyful abandon. Her face turns to the right of the viewer with a wide, radiant smile revealing bright teeth and sparkling eyes enhanced by dramatic stage makeup. She wears an extravagant, voluminous white feather costume—a massive swirling boa of long soft plumes that cascades dramatically across her shoulders, chest, and arms as if caught mid-dance—paired with a matching oversized feathered headdress and an ornate headpiece of small white flowers or jewels crowning her sleek dark hair. The overall composition is bold and energetic, with strong diagonal lines created by the flowing feathers and her angled pose, the lighting emphasizing the texture of every plume and the smooth tone of her skin against the deep black background. The mood is one of unapologetic joy, sensuality, confidence, and show-stopping charisma, powerfully symbolizing Baker’s groundbreaking rise from humble beginnings to international stardom as a trailblazing Black woman who shattered racial and cultural barriers on stage while using her fame to champion civil rights.
American/French dancer, singer & actress Josephine Baker died #OTD in 1975.
DYK: In Nazi-occupied France, Baker was a French Resistance operative. She used her celebrity status to gather intel on German troop movements & smuggled the information using invisible ink on sheet music.😮

My oh my!
A dramatic black and white profile portrait of Billie Holiday singing. Her head is tilted back, her eyes are closed, and her mouth is open in mid-song, capturing a moment of intense emotional expression. She is wearing a light-colored, patterned top and a large, ornate floral earring. The lighting is sharp, highlighting the contours of her face against a dark, shadowed background.
Billie Holiday was born #OTD in 1915.
𝘓𝘢𝘥𝘺 𝘋𝘢𝘺 was one of the most influential #jazz singers of the 20th century. Her unmistakable voice--smoky, intimate, emotionally raw + her unique ability to manipulate phrasing & tempo forever changed the way jazz & pop vocals are performed.

A good reminder for the people. Collectively, living feels heavy for a lot of us 💛
It's mind-blowing to think about the fact that in less than the time it takes to drive across the United States, the #ArtemisII astronauts have travelled to the Moon..
Came across this long ago, saved in my archives. The words and grief spoke to me. Not sure if William is problematic, y'all. Apologies if so. Wanted to share. I also believe in both/multiple truths. Collectively, I think we’ve had to sit w/ duality lately, probably more than ever before.
The Artemis II images are astonishing.
I simply can’t believe Congress and the cabinet are sitting around, totally fine with what is absolutely demented behavior from the president.
More recently, I've been thinking about and envisioning what the world would be like — how people would feel, behave, and live — if organized religion didn't exist. I'm sure there are books and conversations among scholars about it.
An image of Earth backlit by a mostly hidden sun, with a bright pinpoint of light to the bottom right of the disk.
The upper right corner of the image shows the blackness of space. Below and to the left lies a slice of Earth's atmosphere, decorated by a squiggle of exhaust plume.
A photograph taken inside a space vehicle, centered on a half-disk view of Earth seen out the capsule's window.
At the top of the image is a portion of the International Space Station. In the center of the image is a mostly lit moon. At the bottom of the image is a fuzzy view of Earth's atmosphere.
