The Short-eared owl from this morning WWT slimbridge at the Shepards hut.

It gave some fabulous views, it’s my second time seeing one in Glos since 2019 and I have only seen 4-5 other SEO ever, so was the main highlight of the day.

This afternoon at Cefn Cadlan:

The 4 Dotterel were great to see and a Life tick ✅, another unexpected Life tick in the form of 12 Common crossbills✅

Also, Siskin x4, Wheatear x3, Red kite, Chaffinch, Raven, Skylarks and Mipipits. #glambirds #UKBirding #UKBirds

Nice to see the White-Spotted Bluethroat briefly this morning, and Glos year ticked Common swift x22.

Also, Greenshank x4, Ruff x5, Spotted redshank, Reed bunt x2, GBBG, Com Sandpiper, Buzzard, Kestrel, Com pochard x2.

Had some good birds and a few Glos year ticks: Bullfinch, Whimbrel x2+, Cuckoo, Lesser Whitethroat, Garganey x2.

Checked the Cliffs for Alpine swifts, no luck but did have 3 Black redstarts.

Also, Whimbrel x55+, Barwitt, Booted eagle, Hoopoe, Gannet, Crested lark x3, White wagtail, Iberian magpie x9.

No lifers today but did have a nice encounter with a pair of Swamphens with 3 chicks, also nice to see a Booted eagle after a few years.

Also, Little Bittern, Spoonbill x16, Audouins x15+, Hoopoe x8, Wryneck x2 (heard), Peregrine, Whimbrel x110+!
