Just saw #ProjectHailMary. Enjoyable film. Great FX, engaging performances & a needed "problems solving through cooperation" message. The changes from the novel vary from innocuous to baffling, but none of them significantly degrade the story. Well worth seeking out. 4/5 enjoyment units. #filmsky
Cover for Rat Catchers is almost done. Then on to internal layout and some bits of incidental art. I was debating delaying this while I build up my art skills (above the current "toddler with Crayon" level) but decided that is a great way to never publish this thing.

I'm thinking Sword of Cepheus, which I've soloed and enjoyed. Or maybe #Zozer #ClashofSteel. Anyway, something a bit more streamlined than 5E. I always find it a bit surprising (in a good way) how many people are into RPGs.
Also on the #TTRPG front, looking forward to spinning up an RPG group in my new apartment building. Already have few people interested. Once the move is done, will do an outreach through the building admin. Looks like they want a traditional fantasy setting, but I'm going to steer them away from 5E

The #Cy_borg module is coming along. Most of the art and text are done. Just need a few more pieces of the former and to clean up the latter. Then put it all together and share the magic (well, share for a nominal fee). The module - Rat Catchers, Inc. - will add a new character class...
Been a while. With everything going on, both personally (work, upcoming move) & in the world (a daily dose of existential terror) posting stuff on BS was low-priority. But then I thought, why not? Maybe I can share something someone finds diverting for a few moments. These days that might be enough.
For those interested in such things, there is a fascinating report out of the Royal United Services Institute (a well-known defense think tank) about the weaknesses the Iran War is showing in US/Western military procurement and military strategies.

Continuing work on the #Cy_Borg supplement. Unlike my work on #Vaesen, this requires far less research. but, I really am stretching my artistic skills. It'll look cool... if a bit primitive. I'm sure my cave-painting ancestor would be proud... but that's about it :-P

Been a few weeks since my last #TTRPG design update. Decided to switch gears from my next #Vaesen project and work on my first #Cy_borg module. It will be pretty short - a few pages - and deal with a new character type. More deets as I get closer to publishing.

Just watched "We Bury The Dead." Interesting take on the zombie genre, using it as a way to look at grief. Some borderline coincidences - particularly the ending - but worth checking out. Good performance by Daisy Ridley and some beautiful cinematography. #filmsky
I should add, these numbers are being pushed by other "news" organizations as well. So, this is not just a CNN problem. It is an American news media problem.
Why would anyone accept any numbers coming from the White House/BLS? This may be accurate... but if it is, it is only because the Trumpists think it helps them politically. CNN, embracing servility to the regime, just conveys these numbers without any independent data checking.
I found this in a menu for the Super Chief train from 1950 (research for a novel & a game module). "Steward will gladly arrange for any special diet." Imagine that - people accommodated other's needs even in the 50s. The popular view of the past is often so distorted that it's unrecognizable.
We hear a lot about how older generations were tougher, stronger, didn't coddle people, etc. To some degree this might be true, due to more poverty, less choices, cultures of silence and oppression, etc. But, one thing I love about research; you find that things are not as simple as you might think.
