People have short memories. Starmer is an utter joke and failure and done nothing to counter crippling 14 yrs of Tory austerity. But he’s nowhere near as bad as Truss (an utter incompetent who was an economic disaster) or Johnson who was just a downright liar and corrupt (and should be in jail).

Almost everything we argue about is a substitute for the thing we should be arguing about: the immense wealth & power of an oligarchic class, which captures governments, ruins lives and wrecks the living planet.
This class redirects our rage at scapegoats. To resist its lies is to resist its power.

When the wind gets up to this extent the stabilised scope simply allows me to continue birding long after I’d have ditched a normal scope.

BTO data show a huge decline in Yellow Wagtails. We’ve certainly noticed this in spring passage in East Norfolk over the last 20+ years. It’s almost non-existent now.

I can relate to this. You end up in a situation where there’s nothing you can discuss with them other than the weather, and even that potentially triggers them into saying climate change is a hoax.
