If I'm a fungimancer, do I ponder questions of morel-ity?

One of the words on this list is “historically”.

Embroidery is like watercolor and (to some extent) calligraphy: I'm always tempted to add a few more stitches to "fix" things, but most of the time, if you don't get that first layer/stroke/stitch right, adding more will just make it look stiff and overwrought.

Nobody has ever had to pass a law or issue an order to say that the earth moves around the sun, and yet it does so, despite any proclamations to the contrary.

You are real, I am real, we are here and we live, and even if they kill - including by degrees or decrees - they cannot undo our existence.

I have Noodler sequoia ink all over my fingers. No regrets. Fude nibs are cool, and art is messy.

@portcasper.bsky.social Grace hasn't been to Venus yet. Just sayin. :P

I absolutely love that *Venus* is a far more realistic candidate for some form of permanent human presence than Mars

And yet the space chuds never talk about it afaik

THANK YOU! I bring this up everywhere, including with my dad's coworkers at a space engineering retirement thingy, and they're all like ORLY? And I'm like bro, Mars is farther away, is full of cancer sand, has worse gravity, has no magnetosphere (Venus gets a temp one on the leeward side). Come on.

Agreed. We'd like to think editors have time to really breathe in a story, but especially with slush flooding by AI scripts, it's hard. Folks should blame AI and a lack of support for short story publishing (most editors are unpaid), not the editors themselves.

Anyone else newish to life with housebound M.E. feel they’re dissociating their way through it all? I’ve been housebound for 5 months, mainly bedbound, apart from a couple of health appts. But somehow I still feel like it all isn’t happening. Is this some kind of grief mechanism? (1/2)

Hello from bed. This is your regular reminder that long covid sucks, and wearing a mask is showing love for your fellow humans.

Science friends in the U.S.: we have two months to make sure data, code, and websites are saved somewhere securely. This isn't going to be pretty.
