I said it back in 2008 when I saw this superb movie the first time, loved it and failed to convince many people to see it and I'll say it again
F1 needs more jumps

I hoped she liked it!
On a wooden board a brightly striped moth with patches of black bordered in yellow and separated by lines of light or bright orange and a yellow furry head with three black stripe an a cap of bright orange.
First time seeing this moth, the Ornate Tiger Moth, such a good name for this beautiful moth.

Cover of a book called hand knits for men which shows two men doing something with a tool for the 60s (router? Grinder?) one is wearing a long sleeve brick red cabled sweater the other is wearing a bright white shirt and brown satin tie under a green tan a brown plaid sweater vest. Behind them is a wall of hand tools like tin snips and a saw
Some future day I will be wearing this sweater vest and tie combo when #woodworking I'm sure it will go great!

Three wooden spoons sitting on a black glass surface.
Trying out making spoons, using bandsaw, drawknife, spokeshave and a hook knife. Woods are (from left to right) cedar, bubinga, live oak.

A wooden cabinet in a bathroom, white tile floor with the occasional black tile, wooden door, white wainscoting and a pedestal sink are visible around it

Here it is in the bathroom it will live
On a bradies metal wire is a brown leafy looking moth all huddled in trying to be unnoticeable.
Found this American Lappet moth trying its best dead leaf impression on a wire, sorry I wasn't fooled :-)

Thanks! I'm really happy with it too!
Yep, it'll be a week or two till it's arrived.
Cabinet is complete. I'm overjoyed at the overall look of this and the slats details just make smile every time I see it.
Pretty small maybe a inch both in width and lengrh
The legs, doors and all slats are. The bottom is attached using dowels, the back is sitting in dados, the top will be attached with cleats and the top stretchers end in a dovetail. I can send you the plans I drew up if interested.
I was trying to identify it, and I was thinking it looks like a Beautiful plume moth, this photo was taken in California, but those moths are supposed to only be in Europe?
A moth with very reduced wings that are basically just a line off of each side of the body with a smattering of patterns and colors standing on some dusty plastic with some black thing in the background. You can see the feathery edges on the wings and the spikes that decorate its leg joints.
First plume moth I've seen at my light trap! The feathery edges to the wings are just so neat.

Two sides of a cabinet mid construction one having finish applied and one not resulting in a display of the very different colors of wood the rich cherry color coming out rather that the very pale color of the raw freshly sanded wood. They lean again a drill press and table saw on a sawdust strewn cement floor.
Yeah it's amazing how much the color changes with a finish. Using "Tried & True" which is a linseed oil & beeswax finish
Thanks! I am very excited with how nicely it's turning out.
The main wood is cherry. It's very pale in that shot as I've just sanded and no finish has yet been applied. The accent wood is quartersawn wenge.
A shallow cabinet made of cherry wood with doors and sides made out of slats of wenge in a garage assembled but not finished.
Gotten to the point that all the parts exist and it can be dry assembled, this bathroom linen cabinet is really coming together nicely.

A heron standing on one foot on a wooden hand rail feather blowing in the wind. Behind is rusted barb wires and the blue of the bay water
The delicate bleeding plumes of a heron buffeting in the wind or bad hair day?

$ white crowned sparrows, 3 female, 1 male, sitting on 3 strands of barbed wire, a small amount of a bush visible in in the bottomed right corner. The male on the top wire looks at the camera, 2 females on the middle and bottom wire look to be grooming and facing away from the camera and the final female on the bottom wire on the left is looking over their shoulder at the camera.
Pretty fierce gangs of White Crowned Sparrows out here in the Baylands.

Adorable kitty! What does Chowder think of it?
Who's a tall birdie? This birdie is!

A Great Egret (large white heron like bird) is directly facing and looks straight at the camera with it's neck leaning to it's right in a field of mostly brown vegetation with a few bits of green.
Front facing Great Egrets always look silly but the slight cock to the neck adds a whole new flavor of silly.

I have been informed by my birding wife that it's a Marbled godwit not Common, sorry about the bad id.
Common godwit (heavy bodied bird with a thin straight long beak) standing in a grassy field.
Common godwit with a very muddy beak just hanging out in a field of grass like they always do... Probably asking the geese in the field "which way to the shore?"

I forgot about the spiky crown put, it's got such a cute face too
A brown pelican leaps into the air, its feet pushing on the water and leaving a splash behind, it's wings are spread out as are the feathers at the tips, an immature gull sits by idly. Color wise the head is yellowish and then red at the neck
I like how pelicans leap and run on the surface of the water to get going, they are so effortless once up but getting up out of the water is so much effort.
Apparently the red by the neck is a specific color morph of the breeding plumage of this subspecies of brown pelicans.

A common loon sits in a body of water, its head is turned to face the camera and your looking straight down its beak, it's face is very puffy (I assume due to subcutaneous fat) which gives it a very silly look.
Most birds look different when they look right at you, some look angry, some weird.
But the common loon has to have the silliest look I've ever seen.

Thanks for the info, I never needed to know the group term till now!
In a brown wetlands, slight waves in the water in the lower left four great blue herons stand in the center of the photo in a line across the center equidistant apart. The three in the right partially hidden by the vegetation.
4 Great Blue Herons in a row! It's uncommon for me to see more than one at a time, seeing this group all in a line, feathers blown about by the wind was a real joy.

A Western gull (white and grey with an orange beak) stands on a rock in a field of green vegetation covered rocks (algae of some kind I assume) with some water (pacific ocean) in the foreground.
Western gull hanging out at some tides pools while the tide is out. I really like the contrast in colors.
