OKAY but this immediately gave me an idea: shanties sung in the round WITH THE ECHO. The tempo and volume of the singing is adapted specifically for different sized underground spaces so that the echo returns as an "active" participant in the song!

It does a lot, but in this context, it gives Bronwyn dreams and nightmares from the swords own past: sometimes trying to give her information which might be useful, but other times just flashes of battles it's been in over its centuries of history; most of the nightmares are about fighting
Bron, while a bad and fitful sleeper, has no such awareness once she's actually drifted off, usually because her dreams are so intense she's blinded to any other senses; when they get particularly bad, Reha has to literally shake her awake out of the nightmare.
Bronwyn is bad at sleeping — especially after getting the White Sword, she struggles with dreams and nightmares.
Reha, on the other hand, could sleep through a thunderstorm — but wake at the sound of an approaching footstep! She has an uncanny awareness of danger when asleep.

Trains are my favourite way to travel - I love being able to get onboard and just lose myself in a book, music, scenery, whatever, for a few hours... Shame they're so damn expensive these days 😭

I've honestly never even looked at changing the font; I used to post snips by just screenshotting the paragraph I wanted on my phone 😂
Though I also can't seem to get rid of the huge gaps everywhere when I snip more than a single paragraph, so any suggestions on how to get rid of that would be great, they look really weirdly truncated to me...
I have no idea! 😂 I changed the font in my document because I prefer to use a more typewriter-y font anyway, so it might be because of that.
I used to use Google Docs until I found out about Ellipsus, and specifically, their stance against AI. I was immediately sold, so here I am! 😁
Technically even TNG was cancelled — I've seen interviews with Frakes & Stewart where they talked about the show being axed despite its success because Paramount wanted to pivot to doing more movies, because they would make them more money.
Honestly much of the middle part of DoTS is a "road trip" with Reha and Bron; converted into a modern AU, neither of them could drive or afford a car, so they would be hitchhiking or using busses and trains to get everywhere!
