Lovely day up at Vapnartak today. Nice to catch up with @badsquiddogames.bsky.social, @ontosgames.co.uk, @bigmrtong.bsky.social, @crookeddice.bsky.social and even a rare @leakycheese.bsky.social . I spent far too much. As is traditional for me at any trade show 😄

Living History photography!

Large event in Pavia, Italy, commemorating the 500th anniversary of the battle there, involving 100s of people in reproductions of clothing & armour better than you see in any movie.

Every so often, you play a game and think ‘that couldn’t have gone any better’, which was the case with this afternoon’s visit to 1461. We played a scenario of the 2nd Battle of St Albans using Midgard Heroic Battles #wargaming #miniatures #warsoftheroses #spreadthelard #nerdlings

Sorry to see you go, Rich. I hope your week post-Cancon was enjoyable, and the missus had a great time exploring Sydney and catching up with your daughter.

I did, a great game as well. There was a modern version, I recall. Combat mission was a other goodie, and there was a thriving modding community at the time. You can buy updated versions on Steam.

First time I've played S&H,a great set of rules, and good with 2mm. Unfortunately, I didn't get around to see the 15mm game at Cancon.

You're correct, Mark, I wrote the post after I got back from Canberra. My only excuse was that it was a long drive 😁

It's a great mechanic. In the Cancon Charlie Don't Surf game, they didn't use them this year, so it added an additional layer of tension. Very atmospheric! We lost a Loach helicopter early on to AA, so had no way of doing any kind of spotting.

A great looking game. Did you use blinds for the Vietminh?

I meant the 2 new rule sets to me 😀

Really enjoyed Cancon this year, all the games I played were great, and enjoyed the 2 new rule sets (S&H and Dux Brit). The Lard zone was well organised (thanks Peter R) and all of the games were well run. Finally, it was great to meet @toofatlardies.bsky.social. Bring on Cancon2026!

Day 3 of Cancon 2025 is done. Played the Gauls in a game of Sambrw using Strength and Honour. Sandwiched between 2 Roman armies, I managed to pull off a draw by defeating 1 Roman army. Not too many pictures this time I'm afraid. That's it for Cancon2025. #spreadthelard

It's Jason Dickie's work, he did a great job on the table, and did an excellent job running the game today.

Day 2 Cancon 2025, Sharp Practice ECW, from Lard Magazine 2022, a bloody scenario of Royalists v Parliament. Lots of melee, a bit of push of pike, and cavalry action. Great fun was had by all! #spreadthelard #Cancon2025
