Wow 🤯

I honestly don’t see how the USA will survive the moral bankruptcy, democratic wreckage, and loss of international credibility caused by Trump 2.0

Our cherry tree is very happy these days.

After nearly dying a couple of years ago, we gave it some bonemeal last summer and I wonder if that’s what’s helped?

We may be vegetarian, but the trees in our garden don’t have to be!

SNP hit back after Labour claim party 'running scared' of Question Time THE SNP have hit back at Scottish Labour after Jackie Baillie accused the party of "running scared" of a Question Time debate this week.

So John Swinney has put forward Housing Secretary Màiri McAllan for the BBC's leaders debate on Thursday, to provide more balance than earlier male-dominated debates. Good for him 👏

US fascists want to cover women up; French fascists want to uncover them.

Can't we just put them all in a room, lock the door and, well, leave?

Smoking ban for people born after 2008 in the UK agreed The "landmark" legislation aims to stop anyone born after 1 January 2009 from taking up smoking to create a smoke-free generation.

With all the other distractions, don’t let this good news pass you by today.

“Children aged 17 or younger will face a lifelong ban on buying cigarettes, as the Tobacco and Vapes Bill clears Parliament.”

Desmond Morris was very important to me because he wrote about gay people in his book The Naked Ape and it was the first time I'd ever read or heard a description of gay people that wasn't sneering or judgemental. It was thrilling.
About 40 years later I had a chance to tell him so.
RIP Mr Morris

Obesity almost feels like a tidal wave engulfing the world, one which certain governments are trying to counter by building seawalls in the policy steps they take. Some of these might be seen as 'nanny state' intervention, but doing nothing isn't in the public's interest.

More from @profdevisridhar.bsky.social.

I’m always intrigued by why a “nanny state” is viewed so negatively by some.

I thought nannies were supposed to be loving and caring, with your best interests at heart?

Do you have 16 to 18 year olds in your household?

Remember they can vote in the Scottish Parliament election on 7 May. Make sure they're ready to vote. If they are busy with exams, they can apply for a postal vote so that they don't miss out voting. Reg www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

In Scotland the BBC is heavily biased against the independence movement.
Openly giving airtime to Farage's private company while denigrating Scotland's major achievements.
I'd have a little more sympathy for Starmer's troubles if he hadn't enjoyed such blatant MSM bias against Scotland.

Things shown by 1926 census that don’t chime with modern discourse

Big one for me is marriage age and children. Ireland at that time had a v high average age of marriage for women, and also large families. Something to say to the next pronatalist weirdo who thinks childbearing should start at 16.

Almost everything we argue about is a substitute for the thing we should be arguing about: the immense wealth & power of an oligarchic class, which captures governments, ruins lives and wrecks the living planet.
This class redirects our rage at scapegoats. To resist its lies is to resist its power.

UK seeks EU deals on steel and EVs in push for closer economic ties Agreements would aim to shield British industry from new steel tariffs and stricter rules on electric vehicles due in 2027

Second album syndrome for this UK government with regard to EU ties - after last year's summit common understanding based on several years policy work, now there's a bunch of disparate issues that it would like to address but hasn't really conceptualised. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

We need to overwhelm the BBC with complaints about this. This is the most egregious breach of their own impartiality guidelines I can remember. They’re no longer even trying to hide it.

There's a fun little exercise I do every time huge movie cast lists come out to see what the ages of the women cast members are especially when there's multiple men over 40. Just out of curiosity. ☺️

There's so much flapping of gums about the suffering of women & Epsteins victims, but in reality, they made one of his best mates US Ambassador.

Apart from Andrews' vague banishment, the only person jailed over this hideous scandal is a woman & even worse, Epstein bestie Trump is still President.
