Autistic boy to be forced by council to ride bus to prove meltdown claim Hackney Council says a supporting letter from a head teacher which includes details from medical professionals, plus an autism diagnosis and EHCP are not enough evidence

Proving an autistic boy has meltdowns by prodding him into one | Kate Belgrave

Hackney council wants proof that a disabled & autistic child melts down on public transport - so they're going to force him onto public transport and watch. And they're STILL trying to evict this boy & his family from their council home. Is this abuse...? www.katebelgrave.com/2026/03/prov...

Bailiffs due to evict this 8 year old #disabled & #autistic boy and his family from their Hackney council home now. This is ridiculous. There's a live safeguarding case because of the risk to the boy. Councils have to stop this sort of aggression.

People preparing right now to resist Hackney council's #eviction by bailiffs of an 8 year old #disabled child and his family. The council could grant the family a tenancy but decided not to. It's racist and it's sexist. This kind of abuse by bureaucracy has got to stop

One day before Hackney council evicts a #disabled & #autistic boy and his family from their council home. Council could let the family stay but won't.

We're at a point where people put all their energies into trying to get social housing rather than trying to get private rentals because they feel they've got a better chance of getting social housing, even if they have to wait 15 years. 15 years is at least a light at the end of the tunnel etc

Interesting article. We very much need to do something more radical - like majorly radical. Starmer needs to find billions via taxing corporates to pay for social housing. I spend life interviewing people in unspeakable housing situations and there's just no other answer

“It is unacceptable that a policy change this big – effectively wiping out the standard category of PIP daily living – is being implemented without consultation. This is not a minor ‘technical’ change'" said Julia Modern of Inclusion London.

1.3 million ill people could lose PIP under Labour's disability benefit cuts Labour's benefit reforms could see thousands of people with cancer and more than 200,000 people with arthritis lose their PIP payments.

“These figures show how absurd it is to exclude the changes to the PIP assessment from the government’s consultation on the green paper proposals,” said Julia Modern of @inclusionlondon.bsky.social. "We are deeply disappointed that Labour is repeating past mistakes"
