Pretty sure I came across the GitHub for that the other day, I’ll have to check it out further. I also think I might have got too excited too soon because I spent the last hour learning firsthand how much timsControl likes to lag

New work from my team: pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/...
We used probes to ID targets of carbapenems in M. abscessus. 17 targets active in both carbon starved and replicating cultures. Includes validation of 9 targets. Part of a special issue ("NTM Pathogens – Biology, Infection, and Drug Discovery).
Is there a word that encompasses the class of enzymes that act on glycoproteins? Glycoproteases indicates a specific proteloytic activity, and I’d like something more akin to CAZymes that includes non-hydrolytic enzymes.

Welcome to the battle against Brucellosis disease: Field isolates proved more resistant than lab strains, req. stricter conditions (95°C or 0.6% formaldehyde). Proteomics reveals why: heat exposes epitopes (“cooking”), formaldehyde preserves structure (“freezing”).

This is the coolest paper I’ve seen in a while. The future of mass spec is bright

This view resonates deeply with me:
⬛ Publish fewer claims and more proof
Papers need to include fewer claims and more proof to make the scientific literature more reliable
What is driving today’s ‘claims inflation’?

Does anyone know of good conformation prediction software for PTMd peptides? There’s lots of good resources for unmodified peptides but many do not include PTMs, or extremely limited. Specifically interested in glycosylation.

Is arginine the new cysteine?! Check out our lab's latest in collaboration with @ianseiple.bsky.social's team where we introduce ninhydrin as a selective covalent warhead and probe targeting reactive arginines.

Read an interesting paper on how vWF sialylation essentially increases its half-life by preventing lectin-mediated clearance from the blood stream. I wonder if there’s other examples of glycosides acting as time-gated PTMs to proteins, where “rare” glycosides = longer half-life. #glycotime
My relationship with immunology is basically represented by Stockholm syndrome.
Congratulations former postdoc @jfhevler.bsky.social (in transit to Roche) and the team on their work using thermal proteome profiling along with glycosylation perturbagens to discover glycan-dependent protein functions at the proteome scale 👏

Had a fantastic time at the New Horizons in Drug Discovery conference put on by @thewelchfoundation.bsky.social - also loved this slide from @dschweppe.bsky.social, sums me up pretty well
You’ve heard of #Lymedisease, but have you ever seen the bacteria that causes it? 🦠 Borrelia burgdorferi, the spiral-shaped culprit transmitted by ticks, swims with a creepy wriggling motion and uses #chemotaxis to navigate. Both fascinating... and disgusting #Microsky 🧪 #IDsky @shawlab.bsky.social

An inspiring paper by the group of Jacob Geri in Analytical Chemistry. They present a method for residue-specific #chemoproteomics without the need for an enrichment step. To achieve this, they developed reagents that shift the ion mobility for gas phase separation. pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10....

Chemical proteomics has brought rigor to covalent drug discovery and drugs to the clinic. A feature in Nature Biotechnology explores whether it can deliver a new generation of drug targets. 🧪
Very pleased to present the next pre-print from our lab #glycotime We showcase PNGaseL from Flavobacterium akiainvivens that we hope will be a useful tool for the glyco community 🍬🧪👩🔬 Special shout out to @cassiebakshani.bsky.social and Paulina (Ludger)
