Pretty sure I came across the GitHub for that the other day, I’ll have to check it out further. I also think I might have got too excited too soon because I spent the last hour learning firsthand how much timsControl likes to lag

Chemoproteomic Elucidation of β-Lactam Drug Targets in Mycobacterium abscessus The pathogen Mycobacterium abscessus (Mab) can cause severe and difficult-to-treat chronic lung infections. Despite the rising incidence and clinical concern of Mab infections, treatment options are l...

New work from my team: pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/...
We used probes to ID targets of carbapenems in M. abscessus. 17 targets active in both carbon starved and replicating cultures. Includes validation of 9 targets. Part of a special issue ("NTM Pathogens – Biology, Infection, and Drug Discovery).

Is there a word that encompasses the class of enzymes that act on glycoproteins? Glycoproteases indicates a specific proteloytic activity, and I’d like something more akin to CAZymes that includes non-hydrolytic enzymes.

Impact of inactivation methods on biosafety and antigen reactivity of Brucella melitensis from the perspective of Astral-DIA proteomics based on antibody immunoprecipitation mass spectrometry Author summary Brucellosis is a widespread zoonotic disease that poses significant health risks to both humans and livestock globally. To study this dangerous bacterium safely—and to develop vaccines ...

Welcome to the battle against Brucellosis disease: Field isolates proved more resistant than lab strains, req. stricter conditions (95°C or 0.6% formaldehyde). Proteomics reveals why: heat exposes epitopes (“cooking”), formaldehyde preserves structure (“freezing”).

⬛ Publish fewer claims and more proof

Papers need to include fewer claims and more proof to make the scientific literature more reliable

What is driving today’s ‘claims inflation’?

Does anyone know of good conformation prediction software for PTMd peptides? There’s lots of good resources for unmodified peptides but many do not include PTMs, or extremely limited. Specifically interested in glycosylation.

Read an interesting paper on how vWF sialylation essentially increases its half-life by preventing lectin-mediated clearance from the blood stream. I wonder if there’s other examples of glycosides acting as time-gated PTMs to proteins, where “rare” glycosides = longer half-life. #glycotime
