Discovered miRBaseConverter (Bioconductor) this week and thought it was cool 🙌

It translates miRNA names across miRBase versions and retrieves sequence info programmatically, making dataset integration smoother.

Already saving me future headaches.

Last Friday, Irving Jair García López became the latest PhD graduate of the #RegRNALab. His work focused on characterising lncRNAs in response to light stress in Arabidopsis 🌓🌱 and was jointly advised by Stewart Gillmor.

I’m happy to share a preprint I contributed to, analyzing the evolutionary “fingerprints” of protein-coding genes in RNA viruses. Surface-exposed proteins from enveloped viruses show patterns consistent with relaxed purifying selection rather than adaptive evolution.

So...a week ago I finally got my PhD (with honours 🥳).
It has been a wild ride & I'm so happy to finish it with such great commentaries & congratulations.
