Laminin N-terminus α31 regulates corneal epithelial cell adhesion and migration through modifying the organization and proteolytic processing of laminin 332 Laminin N-terminus α31 (LaNt α31) is a netrin-like protein generated by alternative splicing of the laminin α3 gene. While previously shown to regulate vascular permeability in vivo, its role in epith...

LPS increases Actb mRNA in PeMPs in vivo and enhances its localized translation in vitro. New synthesis of β-actin in microglial peripheral structures was assessed with a 2-min puromycin pulse in PBS- and LPS-treated cells followed by proximity ligation assay (PLA) with antibodies against puromycin and β-actin. As a negative control, cells were preincubated with the protein synthesis inhibitor anisomycin. Micrographs show the PLA signal in microglia labeled with phalloidin. Arrowheads indicate PeMPs depicted in insets (4 rightmost panels). Scale bars 20 µm (insets 10 µm)

For clear thinking, cultivate passionate indifference. Buddhists call it non-attachment. We all have hopes, desires and ambitions. Non-attachment means acknowledging them, accepting them, and then not inserting them into a process that has nothing to do with you. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/n...

On April 19, 1898, Camillo Golgi described what we now know as the #Golgi apparatus - a structure so pretty and unusual it took over fifty years for the scientific community to agree it wasn’t just an artefact.
April 19 is #GolgiDay! Mark your calendars to honour the best organelle.

Contrary to popular belief, what is important in science is as much its spirit as its product: it is as much the openmindedness, the primacy of criticism, the submission to the unforeseen, however upsetting, as the result, however new that may be. – Francois Jacob
