We gave a worm brain control of a fly body and it walked

What did we learn? Nothing, other than deep reinforcement learning is effective

A conserved C. elegans zinc finger homeodomain protein, ZFH-2, is continuously required for the structural integrity and function of the alimentary tract and gonad Highlighted Article: Genetic loss-of-function analysis shows that the conserved C. elegans zinc finger homeodomain protein ZFH-2 is continuously required for structural integrity and function of alimentary tract but not for nervous system development.

Excited to share this study where we identified the functions of ZFH-2, a large (181 kDa) transcription factor of the evolutionarily conserved ZFHX family. ZFH-2 has 19 DNA binding domains: 16 zinc fingers and 3 homeodomains!

Electricity dashboard, showing 5.8% fossil fuels, 77% renewables, 16.9% other sources, 4.2% interconnectors

It's a bit gusty out there, but on the plus side, the UK is currently running on 77% renewable electricity right now. 🎉🎉💨💨
Yay nature!

Cartoon transparent human with skeleton showing, red glowing points on joints to indicate pain

Do YOU live with joint pain?

Do YOU experience poor pain management?

Have you got 2-minutes to tell pain researchers about it?

If yes 👉 forms.gle/7NTwma2gnVN1...

We hope to gain insight into lived experience for those with joint pain & involve people in our #PainResearch 😃

My main gripe with the alphafold example is how it shows you need decades and decades of high quality data, well structured, open and accessible to train a model -- and yet they always gloss over it and pretend it's just AI and magic. No, we need to continuously invest in real data and FAIR data.
