Fewer than 30 Asiatic cheetahs remain in the wild, all in Iran.
While the subspecies has been protected since 1959, war and sanctions are now disrupting vital conservation efforts, leaving the world’s rarest big cat on the brink of extinction.

We've published a paper on a key conservation issue - ranger mental health.
Frontline rangers face extreme stress—but support is still lacking. This has real consequences not just for individuals, but also for conservation outcomes.

It is completely mad that the government is expelling high flying Sudanese students from British universities - from a scheme that is explicitly aimed at the future leaders of countries.
You also committed ecocide through widespread destruction of Iranian oil reserves with likely long lasting and widespread consequences for the environment and human health
Cracking article, including on constitutional elements of Trump and Maga.
Contains wonderful line: “Regime change was the plan, but Trump finds it easier to change plans than regimes.”
“Ecocide” means unlawful or wanton acts committed with knowledge that there is a substantial likelihood of severe and either widespread or long-term damage to the environment being caused by those acts
- consensus definition for proposed inclusion of Ecocide as international crime in Rome Statute

Yup, LLMs are so woefully bad at history, so I'm never trusting them with anything else... but I keep meeting smart people who "ask ChatGPT" for so many things, and it's driving me to despair

What, if anything, is Trumpism? There is not really any rhyme: there is no consistency or predictability in what he does. His actions in situation [A] will tell you little or nothing about what he may do in situation [B]. There are, at a general level, certain themes: he is indifferent to norms, he is cunning, he likes leverage, he will renege on deals, he has a sense for ratings, he will often back down. But these are tactics and improvisations: they say little or nothing about which subjects he will engage with next. And nor is there is much reason: little or nothing he does makes sense, at least for the reasons he gives – or for the reasons his partisan supporters come up with to justify his actions and inactions. It would be fair to say there is neither rhyme nor reason.
NEW
“…neither rhyme nor reason.”
We are currently in a situation where precedents and norms and laws and rules and theories offer no assistance.
By me.
