UN classes slave trade as 'gravest crime against humanity' The UN General Assembly has passed the resolution on transatlantic slavery despite opposition from the US and European countries.

The UK & EU abstained from the #UN non-binding (!) resolution on recognising the trafficking of enslaved Africans as the "gravest crime against humanity”. As if this had nothing to do w/ their #colonial and enslaving history & legacies.

The US, Israel and Argentina even voted against it!

With the SEKA now also calling for a boycott of the #EAA 2026 Annual Meeting due to be hosted in Athens, both leading representative bodies for Greek archaeologists are squarely in the camp opposing the apparent business as usual drive of the EAA's senior management.
