I agree with you. The one on the left is much more readable!

It’s the time of year that #TV mentoring programs are accepting applications. I did the #Paramount program & it changed my life. Confused about what to send? I’ll share some strategies that might help this coming Saturday. DM me for info. www.paramount.com/writers-ment...
Lots of tech dudes think the "idea" is the important part of creating, not the creative journey you take through work to give that idea actual meaning. Ideas are the easiest, cheapest and least fulfilling part of it. Giving ideas life through work, and sharing that work with others, is the stuff.
On this week’s #Scriptsky #Screenwriting thread, I’m talking STAKES.
What are stakes? Well, your protagonist should have a want - a tangible and/or emotional goal. Stakes are the consequences of success and/or failure for that goal. They’re also the reason your protagonist + the audience cares.

Hi! I write dramas about people who break the rules to do what’s right, often centering badass women.
I’ve walked the bowels of Congress and the stacks of a haunted library as a journalist and librarian.
Latest writing highlights include being on the Stunt List and a semi-finalist at AFF! #ScriptSky
These are the kinds of deep cuts I’m here for.
OBERLIN made #TheStuntList! I’m honored to be ranked with these super talented writers.
Reps and execs—if you want a Black-led historical biopic with action overtones, follow this link. And fellow Stunt Listers, I’d be glad to do a script swap and shout-out. I’m a DM away!

What a cutie!! I hope the cats will fall as much in love with her as you.
As someone who’s worked in libraries, I can say with certainty that it’s appreciated! 😆
You’re writing a script about a killer shark, reach Act 3 and need to figure out how to kill this unkillable monster. What if it chomps on an oxygen tank and blows itself up? That could work but must be set up earlier. So this week’s #Scriptsky #Screenwriting thread is on PLANTS AND PAYOFFS.

Out of context, it sounds like you’re asking for help to eat the huge bowl of popcorn. But in context, I hope you enjoy the film! 😆
The showrunner is reviewing your script. She points out a joke that she absolutely loves, but you didn’t come up with it; another writer pitched it. What do you? Here’s a quick #Scriptsky #Screenwriting thread on when to credit others, when to take credit, and when to keep your mouth shut.

This week over at Writing and Whatnot, I wrote about general meetings and how not to screw them up. One of the worst meetings Shawna and I ever had ended up getting us a job. So every general matters...

Exactly! To be nerdy about it, it’s like telling a stranger about your latest DnD game—it’s just not the same as reminiscing with those who played the game with you.
Laurels for achieving the top 50 of the Great Pitch Competition 2025.
Thank you so much to @networkisa.bsky.social and @scriptpipeline.bsky.social for selecting TWO of my scripts to the top 50 of the Great Pitch Competition! Can’t wait to see where my swashbuckling pilot Pimpernelle and true story feature Oberlin go next.

This week’s #Scriptsky #Screenwriting thread is on WRITERS BLOCK. Specifically, the seven things I do to avoid and/or overcome writer’s block. My focus is on writing, but this stuff works for just about any creative outlet.

Ah, I like this one much better! My only question is, I (an American) don’t know what a roasting caravan is.
Two things—to clarify, is he a wannabe son or wannabe murderer? If he’s a wannabe murderer, get rid of wannabe.
Wits, strength, and will seem a bit vague and cliched—is there something you can say about how they survive that really pops?
And this is why I’m a library apologist! #LibraryJoy
Very quick #Scriptsky #Screenwriting thread this morning because I need to go coach at an AYSO tournament in a few minutes. But I want to talk a little bit about the difference between BEING HUNGRY and BEING DESPERATE, and HOW YOU SELL YOURSELF.

It was rewatching my favorite version of The Scarlet Pimpernel and wishing there were more for the female characters to do…
There definitely is! I managed props for a few student plays in college, and there are real similarities.
I’m Rikki, and I write scripts about people who break the rules to do what’s right—usually in the historical genre.
I write because I read Screenwriting for Dummies when I was 15 and want to prove that I’m not a dummy.
Outside of writing, I design escape rooms for my local library!
My 2025 in review:
- Took a helpful class with @jestew.bsky.social
- My feature earned semi-finalist at AFF
- Made an audio drama teaser with @hamrobotham.bsky.social
- Designed 3 escape rooms
- Went on adventures
- Spent time with loved ones
- Got angry
- Made mistakes
- Am grateful

I’m currently reading the script, and you’re so right! It has a lot of unexpected heart.
For another take, check out this short film I wrote and directed to raise awareness about this very issue!: vimeo.com/549104642?
If true, yes.
BUT just because someone “looks healthy” doesn’t mean they can walk across an entire airport. That’s the very definition of invisible illness!

Super helpful advice!
