I'm raising money for Breakthrough T1D (new name for JDRF) to change the lives of people with type 1 diabetes.
We appreciate any support. This funding aids T1D research, which is even more important now with the uncertainty surrounding traditional research funding mechanisms.

Wow. Just to make this clear to people who aren't familiar - this means that if 100 scientists submit R01s, maybe 50 will get discussed and about 2-3 will get funded at that payline. Correct me if my math is off.
Indeed. Hard to get cited if you don't get a grant.

Thanks @worthamlab.bsky.social !
I helped explain to the Chicago Tribune the enourmous and irrational damage the NIH funding freeze is causing at Northwestern. “You’re at risk of losing an entire next generation of scientists" "it’s terrifying; it’s completely senseless." www.chicagotribune.com/2025/06/07/w...
Actin remodeling in beta cells adds new layers of upstream regulation - Congrats! @ronnyhelman.bsky.social
Science is under attack. Proposed 40% NIH cut threatens jobs, research, and medical progress. Call your reps, governor, and mayor now—urge them to stand up for science.

I have one on my wall. You can only hunt them on April 31st.
Paradoxically, both GIPR agonism and antagonism potentiate weight loss when paired with GLP-1R agonism. Two new studies in @natmetabolism.nature.com decode the different neural mechanisms employed by each strategy.

Hey #PancSky and #islet people, we're hosting the 2025 Midwest Islet Club in Indianapolis May 7-8. Most of the talks are from students/postdocs. Help spread the word about abstract submission and registration! medicine.iu.edu/research-cen...
Breaking: FDA's March meeting to select flu shot strains for 2025-2026 season has been canceled per email sent to committee members, a VRBPAC member told me. drug companies need about 6 months leeway to make shots in time for fall vax campaigns. #healthpolicy
Join us! Science Homecoming helps scientists reconnect with communities by writing about the importance of science funding in their hometown newspapers. We’ve mapped every small newspaper in the U.S. and provide resources to get you started. Help science get back home 🧪🔬🧬 🏠

The National Institutes of Health had to stop considering new grant applications, delaying funding for research into diseases ranging from heart disease and cancer to Alzheimer's and allergies.
Ok scientists & those who love science 🧪: here is another exhortation. Call Congress TODAY about the freeze on NIH Council Meetings and Study Sections. Emphasize that this means NO new grants are being funded & labs will soon start to shut down and fire employees. Phone numbers are at:

I've been developing a semantic search tool that covers not just bioRxiv and medRxiv, but the entire PubMed database. This means you can search across a massive collection of biomedical research using keywords, questions, hypotheses, or even full abstracts. Try it out: mssearch.xyz
I don't think IIDP is on Bluesky yet, so just reposting.

Applications Due: February 14, 2025.

Reminder: You can always submit a grant late and include a cover letter saying why. NIH receipt and referral may take it. Or not. If you end up missing deadline because of these Commons access issues, there is this potential save move.
