Happy New Year to everyone! ๐
May this year be filled with languages!
#LangSky
The busier I am, the more I want to learn new languages. It's almost as if learning languages helps me relax

Yeah out of the two, Tandem is, in my experience, also the most "dating-ish". However, I always end up finding people, it just takes a lot longer.
I've been practising my German a lot lately. I am also pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to chat with German speakers on Tandem/Hellotalk. If only my experience with Hungarian had been that smooth!

"Goeiedag, bonjour"
A new Belgian classic is born.
I have tested AI before and it's great for grammar explanations and vocabulary but I miss the warmth of a real conversation or mistakes that natives make haha!
I'm willing to give it another go, last time I met some nice people. Or am I being too delusional haha?
I decided to reinstall Tandem to find new language partners. What do they mean when they say I can pick only one language to learn? That's not fair! #langsky
I use 4 almost daily: French, English, Dutch and Hungarian. I have Finnish & German installed as well.
As often as possible! I remember words better if I look them up in a paper dictionary. Moreover, I always end up taking a look at other entries and I feel like it's nice way to expose yourself to other words.
They often believe it's a talent that I have, completely ignoring the thousands of hours spent learning ๐ . Other than that, I'd say they're pretty indifferent, they see it as any other hobby. A hobby that comes handy in some situations/abroad.
To be fair, the way languages are taught in Belgian schools is ridiculous. I bet that those who speak good English have learnt it outside of schools. Anyway, they will have to learn Dutch/French at some point because many jobs do require FR-NL fluency.
1. A language exchange partner / friend
2. A live tutor
3. Spontaneous learning
4. A good and thick grammar book.
5. A friend who's fluent in different languages.

Wat een mooie verzameling boeken!
Fair enough! I kinda plan the same but my progress with Finnish is a lot slower than I had hoped. Estonian is definitely on my list, it's just a matter of time โบ๏ธ
The infernal trio haha! Perhaps there's some room left for Estonian ๐?
Basque is an intriguing language, for sure!
Great choice of languages!
I have more fun studying languages when I combine them. Today I'm studying German using a Hungarian textbook! #langsky
The French language be like this sometimes ๐คทโโ๏ธ. Another confusing word is "personne"! It means a person but it also means nobody.
I like the idea of rotating between languages!
This morning I had another excellent italki lesson with my Hungarian teacher โบ๏ธ
๐ I can help with French (native speaker), Hungarian & Dutch (upper intermediate). I would like some help with Finnish and German.
I should have done it earlier ;)
What a huge list! Thanks!!
