A snow-covered pointy mountain is reflected on a black sand beach which is mostly covered in water/wet sand that is very reflective. There is a small patch of the black sand in the middle, which looks brown in the sun. Above is blue sky and to the left there is some sea fog/sun glow.

On the same beach there were some melted snow patches on the black sand which gave nice reflections of the Mælifell mountain.

Oxford Canal This one was started while we were up in Edinburgh recently, which does feel slightly daft given the subject is a quiet stretch of canal in Warwickshire. It’s loosely based on an oil painting I saw by John Lines of a bridge near Hilmorton Locks—one of those scenes that looks straightforward enough until you actually try to paint it. What appealed was the simple structure of it: the bridge, the towpath, and that gentle canal rhythm. Nothing too dramatic, which is often where the difficulty creeps in. There’s not much to hide behind, so it all has to hang together.

Diese Schwarz-Weiß-Fotografie zeigt einen älteren Mann mit hellem Haar, der im Schneidersitz auf dem flachen Rand eines großen, runden Brunnens sitzt.
