Doesn't this make it illegal for women to do wetsuit scuba training in a public pool?
All men should be forced to wear two-piece bikinis as well.

Lots of UKHE institutions seem to be undertaking curriculum tightening where they shave off useful mind-broadening modules that get fewer students, convinced that this will make them unique and more attractive to students, but it will accomplish precisely the opposite. ๐
I'm sure there was a time that I didn't know about chess or Roman Numerals, but (owing to privileged upbringing) I must have been fairly young. Very good gig, identified with lots of your examples. Maybe I should buy the book!
Next we get to see
@5teviem.bsky.social on Thursday. Looking forward to her show Clout.

Saw hilarious @pierrenovellie.bsky.social at The Stand Newcastle tonight.
The reason the people on The Traitors seem so stupid is that they edit it backwards from their roundtable decision. So we don't see any irrelevant clever thoughts, only the idiocy. ๐๐๐ (Sorry, negative, but correct man.)
"This report presents the findings of a research project commissioned by the Heritage Council to examine how community participation can be effectively integrated into landscape-scale management of heritage-rich environments."
ICYMI I shared some ideas for using @dhawards.bsky.social to introduce various ways into the field for students.
Is a step up from suggesting that writing prompts is a form of 'engineering'? But simultaneously a blatant attempt at normalisation and humanities-washing of what really is just critical thinking.
But what would I know.
In an article on possible ways to use AI for peer review, in a sentence on the inattentive use of AI, the copy-editors have not spotted the obvious typo that even basic spell check would find. AI might find it... though without repeatability or transparency.
This seems to undermine the argument.

EXPLORING MULTILINGUAL METADATA AND THE LIMITS OF AI-AUGMENTED TRANSLATION IN DHโ by Zoe LeBlanc taking place on April 22nd, 2026 at 12PM EDT. People can join on zoom. The poster is mainly blue, with highlights on yellow, and it has a picture of Zoe.

@zoeleblanc.bsky.social. Have you been wondering how we can pair big DH datasets, translation and AI? She has a great example of that mix ๐ฒ

Hope that helps.

Mine currently has a line drawing of a nekobasu.
Huge thanks to @dhawards.bsky.social // @jamescummings.bsky.social for organizing these awards!
Echoing others: it's such an awesome contribution to the community, and a wonderful way to showcase all the great DH work done throughout the year.

perhaps entitled
De Laude Ingenii Humani
but that seems too general. Maybe:
De Laude Scriptoris Humani.
Reading great things like this, I occasionally think that I should write an updated version of De Laude Scriptorium (1492) by Johannes Trithemius, but for non-AI writing.
It was interesting that he had his treatise printed, precisely what he was arguing against. But I'd not have to use AI, right?
The results for #DH Awards 2025 are now live. Sorry if your favoured resource did not win in this openly nominated, openly voted #DigitalHumanities awareness activity. There's no real prize (winners may use the associated icon), other than everyone seeing the resources.

Explore Queen Mab like never before...
In 1813, Percy Bysshe Shelley's radical early work, Queen Mab, imagined a journey through time and spaceโchallenging power, religion, and inequality.

I see. I do often have trouble switching off doing lots of things, even when on research leave.
I suppose I might do lots of research which in itself won't in itself be published but gives me the background knowledge to publish about that research once the year is up. Is that cheating?
As with forcing people to standardise (for now) on USB-C for charging phones, making batteries replaceable is excellent and benefits everyone.
Give it a couple years and Apple will claim it is their own innovation.
Could I garden, do woodwork, and go for walks for a year?
Some answers to some of the questions/comments
Pssst. DH Awards 2025 results are out.
We really should change the timing of all this so it finishes much earlier in the year, but well, I'm busy.
Imagine the far right GB News distorting the truth, I'm shocked, shocked, I tell you!
I concur. We saw Marj on YouTube, O in Newcastle, and Lein at the Edinburgh Fringe. All bizarre, mythic, and hilarious. Would recommend.
