The "thinking in English" is the key issue here. If one truly needs a text to be translated into English, where would one suddenly find the skills to "think in English"? That's not how it works...
However, I do find it helpful to run my English through AI to get rid of some Germanisms..

I am a bit late to the party (apparently I don't get the emails directly. I can see how the sentence is infuriating. I'm less pissed about it but baffled about how weirdly specific it is: "the text is a translation of a text written in German & that AI has been used to translate it."

Next day, good news news from #DH2026 in #Daejeon arrived - our proposal on "Nostalgia in alt-right social media: Truth Social" (with Mykola Makhortykh) got accepted!

Very excited to approach nostalgia computationally across such different corpora and bringing new insights to the table.

Happy to head to Daejon, South Korea this summer to present a short paper on this tiny dataset of 19c periodicals - let's see how much more work I can get done in that time so as not to disappoint #DH2026

Exactly — the AI translation option is only for translating live presentations at the conference. It has nothing to do with the submission/review process. If a reviewer assumed otherwise, that was a misunderstanding. Apologies for the confusion! #DH2026
