Love the genre of "small useful things made giant".
My favorite today was a human sized wrench with the text "tradeswomen throwing a wrench in fascism". #DHmakes
Nope 👾 🪡 #DHmakes
#DHmakes 💖 🌟
I am all in on more embroidery with wool. 🪡 🐑 #DHmakes
Protest sign quilt as sign! 🪡 🧵 #DHmakes
A 3d printed sign reading "I paused printing anti-ICE whistles to make this sign for trans rights". Two gold anti ICE whistles with local rapid response number on them are embedded on the sign.
Ready with my sign for #NoKings SF. One of my kids will carry it, as I will be in rainbow frog mode. 🐸 🌈 #DHmakes
Zines and posters to print out and hang up around your community! #DHmakes
Sometimes you gotta go small to go big with your protest signs. #DHmakes
Fry, a half blind tabby cat, stretched out covering all the purple and green fabric
TFW you bring home 6 yds of fabric and wash it to start a sewing project... and the cat stretches himself out very precisely to call dibs on all of it. #DHmakes
Two 8.5 x 11 letterpress prints of a Luddite in blue ink. The top print is on cardboard-colored paper. It says: “Heck yes, I’m “AI Ready” Luddites didn’t “fear technology” They rejected worker immiseration as the price of the profits of the rich”. A Woolfproof Press sticker is positioned on the bottom left corner of the prints
My anti-AI prints arrived and they’re even better in person! I can’t wait to post in my office and give out to fellow refusers (I got 5 to start). Thanks @wolfproofpress.com + @literaturegeek.bsky.social! #DHmakes
I am already excited about all the posters that people are making tomorrow with their own hands. #DHmakes
The big lasercut lino block printed well; printed a lighter version as well, maybe for the background of a different print. #DHmakes
What kind of thing does data visualization with textiles look like? I'm adding in examples past students have shared, but for the moment, here's some of mine. #DHmakes
When I start teaching Data Visualization with Textiles next week, I'll have parts of a handbook for doing this kind of craft to share. If you want to add data to your own weaving, knitting, crochet, etc or learn a craft to use with your data, you can sign up to join the virtual class here. #DHmakes
#DHmakes meets Egyptology! 😍
What a thing of beauty. 🏳️⚧️ #DHmakes
A bucket of wonderful making potential 🌈 #DHmakes
It's always exciting to come across new discoveries in textile history! #DHmakes

A box labeled #flagberkeley Take art or leave art with 3 3d printed gold octopi and a black spider
Starting the day off by bringing three happy gold fidget octopi to join their spider cousin in the local free art box. (Nobody wants to take the last thing, especially when it's a spider.) #DHmakes
Hey #DHmakes folks, what pigment are you? I'm Maya blue apparently.
Also, this book is a great and definitely recommend it if you want to integrate some natural pigments into your work.
Whoops, #DHmakes
Quinn in a "read banned books" t-shirt, enby crochet sweater, hand woven shawl as a belt, and rainbow pants, with a black and white mask
A pile of fabric and embroidery hoops and thread
Orange and green flowers embroidered on black and blue fabric during the all staff meeting.
Today was the quarterly library all-staff meeting and yesterday I reminded folks to bring a hand craft if they'd enjoy crafting in company during the meeting. For folks without something at the ready, I doled out embroidery supplies beforehand and some made beautiful things with it! #DHmakes
Next, I’m planning to build out the other tabs you see above: a blog (probably monthly, bc let’s be realistic 😅), a section for digital maps of the pieces, a step-by-step of the process, and some #DhMakes resources or references
After a lot of thinking, here’s the first skeleton of the bilingual #NailsandNodes GitHub repository for sharing with the #DhMakes community letrasendanza.github.io/nails-and-no...
A craft horror story 🙀 #DHmakes
Photo (digitally flipped for readability) of lead and frosted clear acrylic letterpress type arranged on a metal printing press bed amid wood blocks (furniture) and metal quoins (key-adjustable space fillers). The type says "Be the vibrant glitch you want to see in the world", with "vibrant" and "glitch" in comic book exclamation! and digital glitchy fonts

Photo of half-done letterpress prints hanging on a drying line. They have neon orange borders on white paper, and a grey xeroxed-like photo of seated suited men with their faces covered with anonymizing squares; the text "Be the vibrant glitch you want to see in the world" is printed over the photo background
Photo of a table spread with drying letterpress prints. They're on white paper with a broad (4-5" wide) stripe of triangle-patterned purple-magenta-orange gradient, overlaid with text in black: "Be the vibrant glitch you want to see in the world"
"Be the vibrant glitch you want to see in the world". Half-done print using backgrounds I made in January, & 2 acrylic catchwords I lasercut (haven't done the second pass yet to ink them—the other text is in black & they'll be in some dayglo mix) #DHmakes +
