These characterful little ducks can be found on lakes and ponds in the middle of our busiest towns and cities, where they can be observed diving for their favoured food of aquatic invertebrates and bivalve molluscs.

The smallest of our grebes, they are found across lowland Britain & Ireland and occupy a broad range of waterbodies. They can be overlooked due to their shy nature, often remaining hidden in emergent vegetation.

This Sunday is the WeBS Priority Core Count! Although WeBS is a year-round survey, March is the last month of the core winter period, which runs from September to March (inclusive). Let's make our counting count!
