Underneath the headline 'WeBS Site Insight: Scoulton Mere, Norfolk’ is an image of two adult Mallards, one male and one female on calm water, with a map of the site boundary and location within the UK. The WeBS logo is beneath with the text ‘ Join WeBS - Can you help count waterbirds here?’
Are you a birder in Norfolk? We are looking for a volunteer to count Scoulton Mere, between Watton and Hingham as it hasn’t been counted since 1976! If you think you can help please contact us

Any other patchers noticing a decrease in Pied Wagtails?
Seems to have been a clear slump in numbers out here, also mirrored in BBS data (among many other species).
Stock Doves seem to be doing well though.
I absolutely love the return of summer migrants and, while I celebrate every one with huge enthusiasm, some feel extra special. I’m sure we all have our favourites. For me catching the first distant snatch of a Grasshopper Warbler reeling is hard to beat. #NorfolkBirding
A Hoopoe on the outskirts of Kings Lynn this evening. Kept its distance, but remarkable to see one so close to home #UKBirding #norfolkbirding #birds
Pair of Garganey Watling Water Salthouse yesterday @norfolknats.bsky.social #norfolkbirding

Working from home this morning. Heard a commotion in the garden and spotted this bruiser of a female Sparrowhawk through my bedroom window #UKBirding #norfolkbirding #birds
Also along the Blakeney - Morston field fringes this evening, this showy pair of Grey Partridge. Such a scarce species locally (& has been for years now), so views as good as these were very welcome indeed. So smart 👌

...and here's the trio of Ring Ouzels from this evening as the sun began to set. The left hand bird appeared to be snoozing in the sun but they all disappeared a minute or two after taking these grabs.

Day 1 of a long weekend in Norfolk and Suffolk. Ospreys weren't on the radar but fantastic to find they had recently returned to NWT Ranworth Broad after they successfully fledged 2 chicks last year. A camera has been installed which can be viewed online #norfolkbirding #ukbirding
This must be one of the most fantastic things I've seen in all my 30+ years watching limosas. Away from the throng of 900+ islandicas, this pair of L3 quietly began a short display & copulation quickly followed (all-grey ♀️ in the background).

What an incredible last two days ~ another fantastic annual early spring limosa top-up around the Fens: y'day it was Ouse Washes, today Welney & a minimum of 23 nominate birds logged plus well over 1100 islandicas. Highlight of 2026 so far.
