Surrealism has arrived on the streets of Solihull Surreal Solihull will take place until May 31, 2025 on Solihull High Street and in a pop-up gallery inside Touchwood

For @birminghamlive.bsky.social I spoke to comedy legend Stewart Lee about Birmingham's overlooked Surrealist Emmy Bridgwater (whose house was on his paper round). I agree with him - we all need to shout a little louder about our city's culture: birminghammail.co.uk/whats-on/art...

In this new conversation with Drew Barrymore about ET (www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie...) Steven Spielberg refers to the only ET sequel to have been realised. In 2015, I spoke with William Kotzwinkle - the writer of that sequel - for SciFi Now magazine. Thanks! Watch the skies. 🌌

Federico Fellini wrote a synopsis for a film that never reached the screen in his lifetime. The film has now been made as ‘Naples-New York’. I’ve written a piece for @beforesmag.bsky.social about it: beforesandafters.com/2024/12/04/t... Thanks!

I didn’t know until today that Walter Murch has a new book due for publication this May. 👍 Do check out his earlier books, ‘In the Blink of an Eye’ and ‘The Conversations’ if you enjoy reading and thinking about how movies work.

I thought that the new movie Nosferatu was tremendous. What I perhaps enjoyed most was its use and presentation of firelight and candlelight. There is a scene in a woodland tavern early on in the movie that looked like Rembrandt had been the DP.

Why The Straight Story remains one of the great American road movies In praise of David Lynch’s contemplative humanist drama from 1999, a film about moving slowly and gently in a hard and fast world.

Several years ago, I wrote a piece for @lwlies.com about a very beautiful movie called The Straight Story. It was directed by #DavidLynch. You can read my appreciative piece here: lwlies.com/articles/the... Thankyou.
