I believe some large old Heronries, naturally collapse, because of the sheer volume of excrement deposited by such a large colony, which turns the soil beneath highly acidic. Trees are dying in the colony, and diseased trees can give Herons infections, which often start as growths in their feet.

Absolutely, very resilient. I am currently photographing, videoing and following the adventures of two Herons with only one leg and another with a large growth on its foot, at the same Heronry in Lincolnshire. All three are successfully nesting, so far.

There are some ludicrously bad photos getting ridiculous amounts of likes, while often good quality and even excellent photographs struggle to get even 30 likes. This i do not understand. I saw a photo yesterday that was so bad that in seemed like a parody of photography, it got hundreds of likes.
