I don't relish it, but I'm too busy (read lazy) a man to be doing the scoop it out like a soft boiled egg routine.

The nudge I needed to remind me to book onto this always brilliant conference! Now I have snaffled one of the remaining tickets, I can encourage you lot to go ahead and book the rest 😁
Several years ago I co-started a collection of LGBTQ+ resources for library, knowledge & information workers, which I now maintain ie I add useful links when I come across them. Follow this new Bluesky account which updates when new items are added. Feel free to suggest resources!
#CritLib folks, we're well past half way to selling out #CALC26 🥳
If you were on the fence about coming, now's the time to jump off and get a ticket; programme and keynotes are ace and we get super engaged and chatty attendees.
Info, ticket link, bursary info here: sites.google.com/view/calccon...
Mine is 'In the Lake of the Woods', like sure pose seed some different hypotheses but if you're not gonna tell me what actually 'happened' what are we even doing here?
This is a good thing about crime writing, you're not gonna get Poirot wrapping up with a "what who do *you* think did it?" 🕵️
☝️ She gets it 🙌
Having an ambiguous "decide for yourself" ending to a book/film/show is bollocks and lazy.
A writer's job is to tell and *finish* the story, don't offload the work of ending the damn thing on me if you can't decide which way to go.
Two outstanding pupils are winners of the 2026 UK Pupil Library Assistant of the Year Award, made jointly by CILIP School Libraries Group & the The School Library Association. The award celebrates the vital role young people play in supporting & promoting school libraries. https://ow.ly/ClgZ50YFF5L
Debate yes, but what happens when society forces us to ‘debate’ our trans friends, family, colleagues’ right to exist, for example? No blame to young people for walking away from that ‘debate’ #lilac26
Slightly uncomfortable with this (class based) denigration of south wales villages, which have been systematically screwed over /given up upon by UK government for decades. #lilac26
Hmm...we do have this premise that people share mis/disinfo because they've fallen for it and been tricked.
I'm not that convinced that this is always/often the case. People share without a lot of concern in the factuality of something vs. the general vibe that aligns with their beliefs
#lilac26
Pretty uncomfortable with fixes that don't address the structural and environmental context of mis/dis/mal information.
It's like if we said with food safety, we'll teach everyone to use an epi-pen but not, you know, include proper ingredients lists.
#lilac26
Hmmm....yes to media literacy, but the focus on just schools and young people?
Adults and older people?

Amanda Folk & Tracey Overby are in Lecture Theatre 1 sharing preliminary findings of a study exploring Black & African American students’ experiences with assignments in education. Exploring the students’ information hinterlands to understand the implications of those hinterlands. #LILAC26
I am a man of many hats!
Hats off to @sheffielduni.bsky.social; the acoustics in The Wave building for @lilacconf.bsky.social are fantastic.
It's not something I've tended to notice so much before, but all the speakers so far have sounded so clear and audible. #lilac26

Lea Watson is in Lecture Theatre 1 exploring how health librarians use non-lecture-based teaching methods to develop #infolit skills among healthcare professionals. #LILAC26
👏 SUCH a great conference opener! 👏
Well done and thank you! 🥳
As the opening of #LILAC26 approaches, we’d like to thank all of the organisations and companies who have sponsored the conference this year.
We are really excited to be welcoming the winners of the Rowena Macrae-Gibson Student Award to #LILAC26 next week: Ellen Chifuniro & Madeleine Williams. We can’t wait to meet you in Sheffield! buff.ly/LOZoLTS

A devastating indictment of 16yrs of cuts, closures, redundancies, poor management/leadership/policies and the disastrous Localism agenda. Library Workers pushed to the edge and a statutory service stripped to the bone, a fucking disgrace 🤬

Had an opportunity to voice my opposition to the idea of using volunteers to do work done by paid employees this morning.
My militant trade unionist roots were showing
The question of how to do recruitment in a fair and ethical way in the context of a brutal job market is really really difficult to resolve. The problem is only getting worse in UK academia, and it feels like institutions aren't taking it seriously.
The focus is libraries, but I once again recommend @patchedelbows.bsky.social on trauma-informed recruitment "the process of looking and applying for jobs can cause applicants to experience or re-experience trauma"

I have returned 3 books to the library and taken out 6 more.
This is the correct way.
And there are nerds in here playing Dungeons and Dragons.
It may just be the most perfect place on earth.
