We are not saying that they should not defend themselves, but that they should not use landmines. Inform yourself about the rate of civilian casualties and long term harms. That's why they are banned. This won't help these countries: it creates risks huge risks civilians and further erodes IHL.

Security cannot be built on systems that perpetuate fear, dependency on arms industries, and cycles of violence...Let us not allow weapons systems such as landmines and cluster bombs to divide, control, or colonize us again."🕊️

As NISEA-PCBL has said: "We understand the grave security concerns these countries face. However, true sovereignty and lasting peace cannot be achieved by embracing weapons that have historically harmed civilians more than they have protected nations....

IHL & ICL have lost credibility due to our failure to stop the ongoing #genocide in Gaza.

Leaving the #MBT would threaten these 4 countries' own civilians and represents one more step in the dismantlin #IHL. All this will hurt their own countries badly too, sooner rather than later.
