@icmcsic.bsky.social team has deployed aquarium-grown sponge fragments into fishery no-take zones to help restore human-impacted deep-sea soft-sediment habitats. Monitored with a @niozsearesearch.bsky.social lander, we’ll track survival, growth, and biodiversity!

Our partner Jacopo Aguzzi represented us at the “In Defense of Biodiversity” conference in Madrid, strengthening Italy–Spain collaboration for ecosystem protection and sustainable innovation. 🌍

Ecoreefs successfully deployed at The Canyons Marine Conservation Zone!
The National Oceanography Centre REDRESS team precisely deployed 15 ecoreefs to encourage cold-water growth in a restoration experiment on #coral ‘mini-mounds’ within The Canyons Marine Conservation Zone, south-west of the UK.

Last Friday, REDRESS took part in the Sharper Night in Ancona, Italy!
Students and #researchers came together to share their work through videos, and fun interactive games for children.

It was a great opportunity to bring science closer to the community and showcase the progress of our research! 🐠

Another week, another activity! We are collecting organisms for ex-situ propagation! Our goal is to identify the best methodologies and conditions to support the propagation of some species and future restoration of depleted habitats 👏🐙
