I'm reading Wolf Worm by @tkingfisher.com and it's (unsurprisingly) excellent so far!
I'm starting to get to the point that it is no longer appropriate bedtime reading, haha. (Fighting my fear of bugs wanting to eat me...)
I've also been kinda laughing at myself because I swore I would stop buying alpaca yarn and here I am knitting through the itch to get this made in this supposedly forbidden (beautiful) fabric!

A portion of a white shawl with many eyelets grouped in threes to resemble birds sits atop a pattern book with photos of the completed shawl
My latest attempt to make a shawl for my 3rd sister seems to be actually going well! 🤞I chose a pattern (Korpsång) from Laine's 52 Weeks of Shawls. The yarn is Skydance Fibers Nova.

Spring colored yarn! Three skeins of yarn laying with a knit swatch of the same color.
Spring Bloom now available 🌱
Spring has arrived here in Colorado! This self-striping colorway was inspired by the early days of spring. Such a perfect colorway to knit while breathing in the crisp, fresh air. 🧦

Saw an Amtrak train going slowly in reverse today. Seems... unusual. Hope it's nothing crazy.
!! Oddly specific interest mentioned!
Do I go do my art (knitting) or something (cleaning)? I know what the right answer is, and I know what I'm gonna pick and they aren't the same
Starting to have energy again so getting more knitting done, pics to come!
(turns out being in pain bc part of your digestive system is angry really sucks and is depleting af! Knew this in theory but hoo buddy nothing like firsthand experience.)
It has been a tough couple of weeks, but today the receptionist at the salon complimented my handknit sweater and I learned my bestie-in-law knits so I got to talk gift knitting while we shopped. Much needed mood lifter!
LOOK HOW CUTE
AND SUBVERSIVE
God I need to get all my cross-stitch stuff back out of the boxes in the basement marked "MISC"

The bird feeder has been cleaned and refilled, so here's a golden hour coal tit for your feed.

My Sallah cowl is slowly taking shape.
Happy Lunar New Year to those who celebrate!
Screenshot from Tumblr User hatingongodot: “In 1404, King Taejong fell from his horse during a hunting expedition. Embarrassed, looking to his left and right, he commanded, “Do not let the historian find out about this.” To his disappointment, the historian accompanying the hunting party included these words in the annals, in addition to a description of the king’s fall.“ LMFAOOOOOO rip to that guy User Shitacademicswrite: i thought maybe this was fake, but there’s even a citation! Taejong Sillok Book 7. 5th year of King Taejong’s Reign (1404), February 8.
Never forget the anniversary of King Taejong falling off his horse!

A mint green crocheted octopus, visibly tired and drinking a coffee about it
I'm so tired and I have to go to a store today, so here's an equally tired octopus

A small knitted triangle of yarn on bamboo cable needles. It's silvery gray with splashes of yellow, purple, and green. 🧶
Finally decided to do something with this beautiful discontinued yarn in my stash. (Khusku, a bamboo/wool/nylon blend) I poked around @knitty.com archives and pulled up the Sallah cowl pattern.
Tomorrow I'm back to working my my latest gift knits, but this one's for me!
The school assignment prompt: When I grow up, I want to be... How Daniel L. completed it: Carried away by owls. Plus a drawing of him being carried away.
Valid. 🦉
*suddenly remembers that summer will return* ohhh none of these heavy wools will do when it gets hot and humid, I BETTER MAKE THAT TEN SHAWLS ~MINIMUM~
Gotta be warm AND coordinated!
Use the materials you're hoarding.
Use that cute pen, the fancy tape, one of the 40 notebooks.
Draw with those alcohol markers before they dry up.
Art materials are meant to be used, not gather dusts.
"I'm afraid to waste it." Time spent using them = experience. And experience is never wasted.
I somehow owned zero shawls and never really appreciated them before I started knitting. I was always borrowing them at events from older women who knew better and absentmindedly saying "I should buy one at some point" 😆
Me when I first started knitting: Wow, there are a lot of shawl patterns out there! Do people need this many shawls?
🧶🧶🧶
Me now, 7 years later: I need at least 5 shawls in active rotation to cover my main wardobe colors, plus one neutral fancy shawl for the rare times I dress up, and...
Sad news but "now that I have made my purchases" cracked me up 😆
I gave my first sweater a boatneck by accident (probably picked up too many stitches and worked in too large a needle).
Luckily, I really like how it looks!

"The Opinionated Knitter" 🧶 A pink hardcover book with a black and white photo of the author at center.
Savoring one of my favorite xmas gifts: Elizabeth Zimmermann's The Opinionated Knitter. (Yes, that's a swatch-as-bookmark lol). Chock full of fantastic anecdotes and the archive of her knitting newsletters. I read the funny parts out loud to my husband.
