Looking down at Coney’s Castle from Lambert’s Castle Hill. It’s behind the pylon & mostly hidden by the tree covering. It’s a much smaller Iron Age hillfort than Lambert’s. The woodland along the ramparts are covered with bluebells in springtime. #WessexRidgeway #GreatChalkWay #Bluebells

Lambert’s Castle Hill 846 feet high overlooking topped by an Iron Age hill fort that is around 2,500 years old. The hilltop was used as a racecourse at some stage and was also the site of a fair for over 200 years until 1947. Fabulous 360° views. #WessexRidgeway #GreatChalkWay

The very pretty village of Ashmore along the route of the Wessex Ridgeway is the highest village in Dorset. At this time of year, the nearby Ashmore Wood provides a spectacular display of bluebells. Photos can never fully do it justice! #WessexRidgeway #GreatChalkWay #bluebells

This yew tree in the churchyard of All Saints' Alton Priors is said to be 1700 years old. Looks like 2 trees but is only 1 #thicktrunktuesday

I can't believe I never noticed Scutchamer Knob before - maybe before volunteers did such a great job in clearing it out? I put this right this week. Loved the seat made from a couple of pallets giving fabulous views across the North Wessex Downs National Landscape. @theridgewaynt.bsky.social

I can't believe BlueSky cuts you so short on replies to messages. It really is hopeless IMO!! Have a good Easter weekend

Hi Keld. I've seen Go Jauntly mentioned loads of times on social media but never looked into it. I've got many virtual FitBit badges, including the 1 I'm most proud of for doing 65000 steps in 1 day! I went to the grand reopening of the walkway across Benson Weir yesterday.

Benson Weir HD Explore thrapstonwalker's 14650 photos on Flickr!

After an extensive refurbishment, the walkway over the weir at Benson Lock finally reopened yesterday. The walkway is wider, there are new weir gates, a fish pass created & the footbridge at Benson has been resurfaced. Video - www.flickr.com/gp/thrapston...

Absolutely. It’s an aim of the Friends of the Ridgeway. I’ve replaced the Google Maps map with one that shows the whole route

Other Walks | Great Chalk Way My walks in 2025 along the six trails that comprise the Great Chalk Way stretching from Lyme Regis in Dorset to Holme-next-the-Sea in Norfolk

On the day that the Coast to Coast Path becomes a National Trail, can I present my 360+ mile coast to coast walk from last spring/summer along the Great Chalk Way starting from Lyme Regis in Dorset & finishing at Holme-next-the-Sea in Norfolk. So enjoyable! www.mywalks.uk/others/gcw

Thames Barrier Park is a 17 acre green space on the north side of the #Thames next to the Thames Barrier. Its most eye-catching feature is the 'Green Dock' - a 130 foot sunken hedge garden serving as a reminder of the site's dockland heritage. Well worth a visit with cafe & toilets.

I've passed this bench at Barnes loads of times and never once stopped to read the inscription. Thanks to Wendy the @thamespathnt.bsky.social volunteer extraordinaire I now understand its significance to the Thames Path. We owe a lot to David Sharp & his wife www.visitthames.co.uk/ideas-inspir...

The Source itself as far as the road bridge at Kemble will be accessible but maybe a little squidgy in places. Beyond Kemble to Ewen & Ashton Keynes I can’t say I’m afraid. We’ve had a decent amount of dry weather over the last week or so, so I’d expect the path to be muddy but passable.

The #ThamesPath in flood yesterday at the Source in Trewsbury Mead near Kemble. The spring by the stone was happily burbling away. With more rain forecast over the coming days I'm sure it'll stay this way for a while. Just don't forget your wellies and be careful!
