World NGO Day
An introduction to noyb
& a big “Thank you!”

27.02.2026 World NGO Day An introduction to noyb & a big “Thank you!”

How it all started

Ever since the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force in 2018, many companies have taken advantage of the fact that it is often too complicated, expensive and time-consuming for individual users to enforce their fundamental rights.

How it all started Ever since the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force in 2018, many companies have taken advantage of the fact that it is often too complicated, expensive and time-consuming for individual users to enforce their fundamental rights.

Luckily, the GDPR grants users the right to mandate NGOs like noyb to represent them before a data protection authority or in court. To date, we have filed more than 880 cases and are responsible for over €2 billion in administrative fines.
We also make use of PR and media initiatives to draw attention to privacy issues and strengthen your rights even outside of court.

As for humans, Persona hopes to build identity profiles for each person using the hundreds of activities they do online over time, like ordering food or scrolling social media, so Persona can more quickly verify they’re human. Song said these profiles would be tamper resistant and reusable so that they can be submitted on any site during the verification process, which he thinks people will want to use despite the obvious privacy tradeoffs.

“Today you're disclosing more and more about yourself. You're just giving up so much information,” Song said. “Our dream is this idea of a self-sovereign, personally-owned portable identity.”

This is who you are sending your data to when you use age verification with Discord or VRChat.

Because they aren’t using it for age, they legitimately want to track you everywhere, everyday and learn what you are doing.

Fall out of favor? They know everything to make your life hell.

A lot of media is intent on making people think these groups are backing down when theyre actually not, so people stop pushing back. Like news saying ICE has left a city when it hasnt. Its scummy

The article doesnt actually mention them "distancing" themselves from Palantir, only that prompts to give your ID to Persona were "a test, which has concluded"

Continue to cancel Nitro and migrate elsewhere

We cannot avoid the mass splintering of communities without endangering people via online ID or working with fucking palantir.

The best we can do is damage mitigation. The situation sucks but we gotta go elsewhere.

The DOJ is monitoring what lawmakers search for in the Epstein files. Maybe they could put that same energy into monitoring, I don’t know… the people in the files.

"They lie about deleting photos": Discord rushes to walk back age verification after users abandon the platform Discord's age verification rules could involve face scans and ID uploads, causing massive backlash and calls to abandon the platform.

"Don't worry, most of you won't need to show us your face or ID because we're already spying on you" is not the reassurance we were looking for.

To quote: "According to Discord, its background AI inference model would estimate a user’s age in most cases." 🙃

It’s Sunday everyone. You know what that means. Get ready for Monday by

- Calling your lawmakers
- Spreading awareness of surveillance proposals
- Boycotting companies that enable age verification and RAM shortages (especially Discord Nitro)

Min tillid til at Discord, som er blevet hacket og har også har fået en GDPR bøde, for ikke at slette data, kan overholde det her, er meget meget lille!
Jeg vil ikke anbefale nogen at bruge ægte informationer!
