A small weather feature hitting the northern isles, one of those that’s barely perceptible at ground level but higher up looks decent. Be interested to see what Shetland FI etc get this evening tomorrow morning! #birdingscotland

A Black-tailed Godwit in spring on route to its breeding grounds in Iceland with a wee stop over in Village Bay. There aren't many smarter waders in their summer finery!

Coleophora vitisella

Spent a lot of time looking at Cowberry leaves over the weekend looking for various micros, here are two which I think are Coleophora glitzella and Coleophora vitisella!

Awesome pic 👏, I don’t get why birds don’t just pick them off when they are like that, is the camouflage really that good?!. I only seem to get results with the lure when it’s warm ie >14/15c and breezy, when it’s cold or calm just doesn’t happen!

Another day another Eriocrania sp./ Spring Jewel, this one on the left more spangly and with longer antennae, going to have to do some searching for mines on Birch leaves when they come in to leaf very soon... #teammoth

Thanks Andy, very lucky to live in a piece of mature Birch woodland so get Rannoch Sprawler as well as a few other Strathspey specialities!

Been seeing some really interesting egg-laying behaviour from female Rannoch Brindled Beauties away from the usual fenceposts in the last few days. So far seen eggs laid in cracks in crustose lichen, other lichens, sphagnum and Cross-leaved Heath! #teammoth

Battle today at Loch Arkaig nest 2 between resident female Dorcha and male and female residents from Loch Arkaig nest 1, Garry (LV0) and Aurora (536). Male JJ4 was also in the mix, who has periodically been seen on nest 2 since yesterday. Plenty of dive bombing going on.

Raptors have been hard hit by HPAI due to predatory and scavenging behaviour. Prior to HPAI, no difference in adult survive between inland+coastal Peregrine Falcons. After HPAI, significant decline in coastal birds and territory occupancy.

Ahh the Easter Bank Holiday weekend or as we call it in Strathspey…

🎉Whack a Caper 🦃 Day!!🎉

Thoughts and prayers to the Wildlife Crime Officers and CNPA rangers who spend the holiday in car parks pre-dawn waiting for the planks to arrive - true heroes one and all! 👏
